Are prices for Japanese brand shafts cheaper in Japan or about the same price as in United States?

It depends on the shaft. If you can live with a used/pulled shaft then go to yahoo auctions japan. I buy them all over there. The Japanese take very good care of their equipment. So a "middle quality" is usually an "excellent" on ebay.

You need to estimate it. But, it becomes a problem. Just ask my wife. I've got 5 yahoo tabs open, that I can see right now...

I’m interested in the various Yonex iron shafts. Supposed to be light and real stable.

I assume that these can't be bought separately from the iron heads?

I haven’t looked real hard but I haven’t seen them marketed separately. Maybe pulls on the secondary market? But check out this video. Solid player using a 44 gram Yonex shaft that he gives a strong review.

Yeah I saw that video. I don't understand why he would test really light weight graphite shafts when the question was; could he play them instead of his steel (120g+) shafts. Just a bit of exposure for Yonex me thinks....

I think he is just trying to show they can make a 44 gram shaft that will hold up, but you’re right — no way anyone drops from 120g to 44g. I doubt I would like how that feels. Much better to show how they have lowered the torque but kept the feel in 85 to 115 gram graphite shafts, which covers a lot of golfers. I am interested in the Yonex shafts because of how they are made is a little different and because with those builds that means the head and shaft are both made in their factory in Japan. I actually remember hitting a Yonex carbon head fairway in the ‘90s and that thing really went and felt good too. It probably had a Yonex shaft, I probably never even looked.
