Not a big Nike fan, but I have the Nike Pro base layers. I typically buy them slightly large for freedom of movement. And then layer from there with a long sleeve polo (also one size larger) and sweater. I try to stay away from wind shirts if at all possible because I find even the largest of them bothersome when swinging.

It's all about the base layer and maximum skin coverage. I wear a compression mock turtle from Marshall's. I have several depending on the conditions. After that, I can go 1/4 Under Armour and a windlite or mix it up with a heavy wool jumper i imported from the UK. Pants are chinos or some fleece lined Wranglers from Walmart. Haven't tried the Wranglers yet. Just bought them a couple days ago but they look very promising. Slim fit and very stretchy.

Someone on here recommended the Buff neck and head cover and it's great. Highly recommended.

Some warm socks and a winter hat and golf mittens and you're all set.

I know there's a big thread on winter jacket but I never wear a jacket. I'm all about layers so I can dial in my comfort.

Down to 35*, I wear a short sleeve golf shirt, Ping Norse jacket (OG version), long johns and Nike 5 pocket pants. Winter cap and wool socks. That’s it.

keeps me very warm and minimal layers makes it easy to swing a club.

The Ping Norse jacket was a game changer for me, it’s the perfect jacket for sub 50* temps. No layers needed, just a golf shirt underneath.

40 and under, cloudy and windy --

UA 3.0 base layer, Footjoy long sleeve mock, Mizuno Windlite sweater, UA Coldgear Infrared pants, 2 Hot Hands in each pants pocket. If wind chill into the 20's, add an original UA thermal jacket. Ear covers (don't remember the brand)

40 and under, sunny and light wind --

Polo puffer vest in place of the WIndlite sweater, no Hot Hands and no UA thermal jacket

40 to 50 degrees

UA Base 2.0 base layer, FJ or Millar or Bobby Jones long sleeve polo, Mizuno Windlite vest (if cloudy and windy) or Polo Puffer vest (if sunny and light wind), UA Coldgear Infrared pants.

Base layer should be hydrophobic (.ie. doesn't absorb water). There are many options from 32 degree stuff from Costco, Heattech - Uniqlo, on up to Patagonia, etc,. Smartwool, and/or Icebreaker, if you prefer a non-synthetic.

I use my mid-layers for warmth. I have an Adidas Climawarm quarter zip, but, there are plenty of options, and, you need to try some on to see what fits. I prefer my mid-layer to hydrophobic, as, I walk, so, sweating can be an issue. A vest can be a great option, preferably full zip, which, you can take off, if you get too warm.

Outer layer is for wind/rain protection. If it just wind, I have Zero Restriction Cloud jacket, which, is very light, water repellent, and, fairly breathable. For rain, I have been using a Ping Tour Eye jacket - discontinued model.

If you are a Costco member, it might be worth a look at the Eddie Bauer Men's Fleece lined pants. I didn't buy them, as, I am a walker, and, I have other windproof pants (nylon based), and, can wear long underwear (or, rain pants), if I felt the need for more insulation for the bottom.

Although it hasn't been extremely cold on Long Island yet (I've played in the low 30's with 20-30 mph winds), I've really been happy with the 32 Degrees lightweight base layers from Costco. They are softer and stretchier than my UA compression and fitted shirts and seem to do a good job or wicking sweat from walking. I got a couple pairs of UA Coldgear Infrared Golf pants this year and I've been very happy with them so far. Same stretch as their regular golf pants with an additional lining inside of them. I've been really big on Proquip mid & outer layers this year. Depending on how cold it it, I've been varying between Proquip Mistral or a Proquip Prolite thermal fleece under either a Proquip.Zephyr 1/2 sleeve windshirt or a Tourflex Cyclone jacket. On the coldest day that I played, I just wore the 32 Degrees shirt under a golf shirt and a Ping Norse II jacket. As we continue into the winter months, I expect that the Norse will become my standard.

I know that you weren't asking me. But, I went one size bigger (XXL instead of XL) with my Norse II. It was the right decision. I also have a Ping Zero Gravity jacket that fits the same as the Norse II does. Ping has a

size guide that appears to be pretty accurate. PING Golf Clothing for Men and LadiesI have a 47" chest and I have just a little bit of room in the XXL, which appears to be consistent with the size guide.

I went with a Medium in the Norse. My suit jacket size is 38R if you are looking for a frame of reference. Also, use the sizing chart on Ping‘s website, I found that to be helpful when choosing my jacket size also.

I bought a pair of the Wrangler fleece lined pants from Burlington and were very happy with them, especially at $20. Played last weekend on a cloudy and windy 40 degree day. Outfit of choice was a fleece skull cap, UA cold gear compression top, polo shirt, Mizuno windlite sweater, and the Wranglers with Target leggings underneath. Warmest I've ever been on the golf course in that weather.

I've found all the gear by Columbia called Omni-Heat to be very good. I use the baselayers and a windproof outer jacket by them.

I play at 38F with a windchill to about 35. I can't play much lower than that.
