Justin Thomas wearing on wrist?

In all honesty quite a few . It’s 30$ a month if you go for the most expensive /shortest term option. It’ll give you a lot of great info and for the wear and tear professional golfers out on their bodies knowing that 3 days before your body breaks down and hits a wall is so invaluable it’s incredible. My guess they’re getting it free but not getting paid.

I'm sure there are a lot more wearing them after seeing Rory and JT, keep in mind the same would be true about the trackman, had to start from a select few first movers and proliferate from there. I also don't think there are as many tour pros who are actually pushing themselves that hard in the gym vs the number who would push themselves on the range with a trackman.

My guess is they were all in the swag bag in their locker at a certain tournament. No way these guys all paid for these things. Good marketing on the Whoops! team though, all the tour guys are wearing them, so they must........

Whoop has changed their model several times, seem to be making a huge marketing push to remain relevant. Issue is most smart watches measure the same metrics (minus HRV) with as much accuracy and no subscription cost. Not to mention the HRV formula is severely flawed, making Whoop a cool gimmick, but that's about it.

lol, Here, see, per this review, it seems basically tells you to sleep more....

" After an initial "calibration" period it learned when I woke up (it detects sleep automatically, but you can also tell it you are going to bed to guarantee it knows your schedule) and started nagging me to go to bed to get enough sleep. A lot of sleep. Sometimes more than 9 hours of sleep! I get up at 0530 every morning and it alerts me at 20:30 to go to bed. Sometimes later or earlier depending on my strain. That said, I did follow the advice (as much as feasible) and my recovery and overall well-being went up. Not scientific at all, but the mornings the Whoop said I slept poorly, I felt bad and good days were matched with quality sleep reports on the Whoop."

Shouting? I posted a review of the whooty strap from someone who used it. Also, my post wasn't a reply to yours ; )

But, beyond that....

I know it's some cool tech and some people like to know what their heart rate is all day and such. And I can see how if you're training at a threshold of total capacity, like need to know if your at 210bpm and vo2 max and all that, lol. But, something tells my that Justin is not really training like this ; )

So, basically, it's a hrm and can detect how much you sleep. And supposedly how well you sleep. But, it's always going to tell the average person to sleep more. I can just see a 25 year old multimillionaire pro golfer....

Wow, I drank 8 beers with my brahs, slept 4 hours, and my whooty strap says I am not at peak. Duh.

I'm just busting your chops, enjoy. Btw, I train 6 days a week. 3 days lifting and 3 days cycling. For me, it's very obvious that sleeping well is key to recovering from a heavy workout.

Wow. Thx for taking my post literally. Either what I said was way over your head or you are trolling. But thx for the feedback

No I didn’t take your statement that”all the tour guys are wearing them” to mean every single player. But your statement did lead me to believe that Whoop was a major trend on tour and I had not yet picked up on it.

So just to be sure anything else doesn’t go over my head, how do you define “all the tour guys”?

I'm going to disagree. Most heart rate monitors are within 5% of chest straps. I own one of these because I workout 4-6 days a week and what I think it is more useful for a professional golfer is making sure they are resting enough with all the travel they have to do. Just because they may sleep doesn't mean they are actually rested. Whoop is good at showing if you are ready for a good workout or if you should take a day off to recover.

I train 6 days a week as well. Last night, I slept for 8.75 hours. I did a 25 mile ride today and crushed it. Big surprise; )

But getting that much sleep is a anomaly for me and most given...life. I know the whooty will tell me....sleep more.

I understand that it’s all positive data to have but I think most will just be told/reinforced what they already know. Recovery is where you grow and make progress. Good product for some I’m sure.

More interesting is....

what are they doing with the massive amount of health data they are collecting from subscribers? It’s very valuable from both an advertising and larger clinical data perspective and these guys will be a very appealing target to be bought out.

My Garmin Fenix 5X watch has all of the same functions, including sleep, recovery and stress analysis, plus cardio and other functions including suprisingly accurate yardages and lasts 2-4wks on charge. Instead of my expensive watches I wear the Fenix 24/7 and change the wrist bands to dress it up or golf and gym.

ask yourself this question, do you think Whoop can afford to pay Rorys asking. These guys get loads of swag tossed at them no question, but i'd guess he wore it on his own accord. Good thing it doesn't tell time or Omega would nix it.

It depends what you want out of the watch. I have a fenix 5 and I like the Whoop better as a daily driver. The problem with the fenix is it is very bulky to sleep in (whoop is very light) and it doesn't do HRV standard. In order to get HRV (which is what shows your actual recovery) with the fenix you have to put on an external chest strap. The fenix is better during actual activities if you want data on what you are doing.
