Guilty as charged, but I should have that corrected by the end of next week; I'm going through a full bag fitting at Club Champion because, well, why not? I've confirmed that they will have some Epon heads for me to demo.

This time last year I bought some Kyoei raw iron heads on black friday special. I ground and shaped them to the weight I wanted. Then bent them to the lie angles and finally soft stepped them 1x with Recoil 95 F3 shafts.

These things are so buttery and surprisingly forgiving.

I play Mizuno MP 64's. I've never played anything softer than these.

Mizuno is the softest. They lack a mega powerful feel like Miura but they feel beautiful. Love Srixon as well and would love to try some Epon at some point.

The Apex Pro 19s are incredibly soft feeling. I was actually caught off guard when I hit them.

Finally got to hit my MP20 MMCs and they are soft, but the J15s and my old Z745s were still softer. The MMC makes a really great sound though

Mizuno MP20 blades are the softest I've ever hit.

Anything in the Mizuno MP line is probably a safe bet. Haven't hit any of their newer offerings or any of the JDM boutiques though. Using a soft ball I think plays a big factor.

Epon Copper 302's. Not sure iv'e hit a softer iron. Almost to pretty to hit.

Srixon 785 feel softer than any mizuno or just about any other iron I’ve tried.

3 factors that i can think of to produce a soft feeling forged club:

1. Type and quality of carbon steel. 1020 (s20c) is gonna be always softer compare to 1025 (s25c). The softest I’ve tried is CK15.

2. Finished! Copper, double nickel underlay or raw. Most now a days just a single nickel underlay. The true forged feel will always be a raw no plating, but the sand will destroy it fairly quick. Hard plating (chrome) are to protect and prolong. Nickel underlay will make the top chrome finished more durable but less dense feel compare to copper.

3. Design! the thicker metal behind the sweet spot will give a dense softer deeper sound which translates softer feel. Sound is huge to make us THINK it’s softer!

Have to agree about the subtle difference in feel between the Miura forgings and Mizunos. My faves, in no particular order below. Currently own all of these...

Miura BB and CB 1008s

Bridgestone J15 CB

Mizzy MP-5s

Yonex MBs

Nike VR Pro blades

Can't compare a full blade to any cavity back forged. Just not a fair comparison!

1020 carbon steel with copper underlay is still the way to go for hardcore forged lover imo!

So dIg into a detail specs before trying and hit them in a quite indoor range. Only solid hit can be the true feedback.

At the end, which one give you a more sweet spot struck with the best dispersion! The rest leave it to a fitter to maximize the performance.
