Any slow swingers (100 - 103) play the Ping 410 lst driver?

I am deciding between the plus and lst. The numbers show I could play both but really like the look of the lst head.

Would love some feedback on folks in the 100 ss range gaming the lst.

Any set up specs appreciated.

I really liked the 9 degree LST. I'm faster than you and spin the ball quite a bit with driver but the LST spun around 500rpm more than TS3 for my swing. I remember trying the G400 LST and it fall out of the sky. I launched the 9 LST well and think it would be very playable at that speed if the fit is right.

You can definitely play the LST provided you get the right loft and shaft. Tee it on the high side for best results. I was fit and could hit it or the standard and I was swinging at 105. I ultimately stuck with the G400 standard head because I liked the slightly smaller look and am comfortable with it, and I had a little more speed with it. Spin was only a little higher than the LST. But I have hit the LST a lot and the Callaway Rogue Subzero too and they worked fine.

Thanks for the feedback. Will be going with 10.5 degrees of loft for sure. I demoed the original 400 with a diamana w series 70 and loved that combo. Probably look to the blue profile for a bit more spin. The non pro orange worked well but not the biggest fan of counter balanced shafts.

Right, was going to say I’m now in the slow swinger category at 102, yet manage to out drive 99% of the people I actually meet on the course. :-)

I use M2 9.5 degrees with a stock Fujikura 56gm shaft. Works really well and get right around 2500 or so RPM.

Low spin heads only reduce backspin as far as I know? Typically, made for golfers in the >110mph category because they’re looking to prevent ballooning with the lightest shaft they can get? At least that’s what my $150/hour fitter told me in passing conversion...

Swing at 105 tops. 410 LST works great for me.

First of all 100-103 is most likely well above average for the general golfing public. It's perhaps slow when it comes to this website's standards but by no means is it something to be ashamed of or something. As far as this driver goes, it's entirely dependent on your swing and where you strike the ball usually. If you strike the ball higher on the face and hit up on the ball you might be very well served by this driver... but if you hit down on the ball and strike it a little bit lower in the face, this might not be the best for you at that speed.

True! My swing is right about 90 and they don't make a driver that's too low spin for me.

Thanks for all the comments. My comment in the title about 100 - 103 being slow was kind of a joke because relative to WRX standards it seems slow. I am also 52 so I do not see my speed increasing and from a longevity stand point feel the plus head may serve me better but them again I love gear and tinker every year so.....

Started with the 10.5° LST head and even with the Tour 65 shaft, was hitting it crazy high. Ended up trading the head for a 9° version thanks to a member here, and like it much better. My driver SS is 105-110 and am really pleased with it. Like the 410 head so much that picked up a Plus in the same loft to compare, but only got to do so indoors since it was late in the season. Just like so many of the reviews, the launch was almost identical and the spin was just a couple hundred RPM lower with the LST (low 2,000's). May go with the Plus due to the extra forgiveness, but they both feel great.

On a side note, both of my heads weigh 202g, with the Plus having a 16g weight and a 14g in the LST. The SW @44.75" is D3 which is perfect.

The more interesting question might be whether players with moderate swing speeds and “normal” impact consistently are successfully playing LST types of heads. The general problem is that while the spin reduction on optimal impacts may be 200-400 rpms, the falloff on poor strikes tends to be far greater, producing low trajectory shots that go pretty much nowhere. The counter argument of is that you don’t really want those impacts flying for full distance since they’re likely significantly off-line. Complicating that point is that vertical spin by definition counters the effect of side spin, since there can be only a single spin axis...

Reduced spin heads are only even potentially useful to those with higher swing speeds who need to compensate for overly vertical swing dynamics, active tip profiles intended to add distance, or non-optimal static face loft selection. Others are better served by an optimal head and shaft configuration.

3 weeks from 52 myself

106-109 on Trackman as recently as 1 month ago

Love the 400LST in 10* head .. and I turn it up to 11. I tried the 410 LST for a month and let it go, preferred the 400LST after a long head to head trial. The 400 hit it higher for me than the 410

Both heads are VERY VERY STRAIGHT with incredible forgiveness for me. Was miles farther than the 400MAX, but many others found the opposite. Depends on AoA and LA etc etc

I was fit at second swing a bit ago and was swinging the lst and the plus. I ended up with the plus.

My average drives are like 230 - 250 range with the once a round 260 280 pop. I probably swing (sometimes) in the ball park you have defined.

the best ball with either driver was about the same. The plus won with a better average for me.

Ended up with toe down 9° and a tensi orange in stiff was right on the borderline so far as flex went Kinda recal the spin was around 2400 2600 range with the lst usually about 3-400 less I went with the more spin more accurate club for me.

I'm the same age and around the same speed...maybe getting up to 106-107 if my body's working ...lol. The 410 lst has been great. I find it extremely forgiving for a low spinning variant. I can work it easily in either direction too. Great driver!
