Switching out set PW to Vokey 46*

Hi guys,

I will be replacing the set PW with Vokey 46*.

Just wanted to find out if I should be going with the same shaft as my iron sets or my wedges.

Currently using DG S300 with my irons and wedge flex with my wedges.

Depending on swing speed you won’t notice much of a difference at all between s300 and wedge flex.

I’ve done this and use S400 in wedges and x100 in irons so when with X100 in my 46* Vokey.

I’d go with the same shaft as you have in your irons.

same shaft. I really like having all wedges 46/50/54/60. 60 has a slightly softer shaft as i never go full bore with it anyways.

Last I'd heard a Vokey "wedge flex" is really just a re-branded S200. So you're basically asking whether or not to use an S200 (as with the rest of your wedges) or an S300 (as in your irons).

 

Strictly speaking, the difference is a few grams of weight. DG's that are properly-weighted get labeled S300 while those that are slightly under-weight coming off the production line get labeled S200. Those that are slightly heavy get labeled S400. That's literally how it's done.

 

DG advertises the following:

S200 - 127g (+/- 1g)

S300 - 130g (+/- 1g)

S400 - 133g (+/- 1g)

 

So practically-speaking, are you going to notice a couple measly grams of weight? If you're not a professional then probably not. So don't sweat it too much. That said, Vokeys are designed to come out with a certain swing-weight. So if you want that consistency throughout the wedges I'd probably stick with what they give you as a stock option (an S200).

Didn't work for me. I like a forged PW. Vokey was bulky and clicky.
