New Bridgestone Balls

arbeck

Recommended Posts

Does anyone know when these are going to be introduced/be available? The Tour B series was originally announced in August of 2017 with availability in October of 2017. When they launched the e6 it was limited in November of 2016 and nationwide in February of 2017.

The current ones are already being sold on discount. The new ball has shown up on tour. But I haven't heard anything official about a release date. Even the rumors are pretty vague. I'm currently playing the B-XS but am pretty interested in the new ball if what I've heard about it is true.

Supposed to have a new cover material/compound, tiger and dcham have it in play. Looking for more info. Anyone know which one it is on the approved list?

I was about to stock up on some Tour BX for the upcoming season. Now I'm hesitating. Wonder if there will really be that notable of a difference. I doubt it, but the way people are talking, like a clip of off MGSpy, its like the best thing since the introduction of the ProV1.

I watched the video from them other guys too. The ball sounds interesting and given it’s made by Bridgestone, it should be good however the spin numbers they spoke about were produced by a Tour pro. Most of us won’t likely see the same numbers. Maybe a bit of an increase but I’d bet against the increases seen by Kuchar. And if we do, we’ll probably complain about cover durability.

The one thing that I will say is that ball speed is fairly well regulated by the RA/USGA. You aren't really going to be able to increase driver ball speed much at all on a ball. Spin and launch characteristics off the driver are pretty well optimized. Spin separation on irons is pretty much where it should be. The ball manufacturers have pretty much total control over those things. Want slightly more driver spin, they can give you that. Want slightly less iron spin. They've got a ball for you. Want a lower ball flight? They've got a ball with a slightly different dimple pattern.

The one area where the RA/USGA aren't really regulating where there is a opportunity to make a big leap forward is short game spin. Especially once you start talking about getting inside 50 yards or so. If they've developed a cover material that allows more spin, is somehow hydrophobic to shed water, or some other thing; that would be a big leap forward. The other thing to keep in mind is that there is less difference between you and I and a tour pro once we get inside 50 yards. I'm not swing as hard as Matt Kuchar (who's one of the slowest swingers on tour). But when I hit a 50 yard pitch, my delivery characteristics are probably close to identical to his. He can deliver those characteristics more frequently than I can, but on well executed shots, we are dealing with the same club head speed, ball speed and spin characteristics. So if the main improvement to the ball is in this area, it's going to benefit me much more than one that gives Rory and extra 1 MPH of ball speed.

In total agreement with arbeck here. I'll add to the discussion - durability is an issue as well, one of the direct to consumer brands , while having a solid performing ball - it shreds easier than most. I can see a tour pro just putting another ball in play without thought. But I buy my own balls (albeit with some well earned proshop credit - thank you Mr. Wishon!) and don't tolerated one well struck wedge durability. Secondly - the color availability, for the aging and color blind player, keep the yellow coming!

I’m very excited about this new ball. I’ve really never gamed a Bridgestone, but would definitely like to.

Current Tour BX is the best ball on the market, with the ProV1x being the only real contender and far more expensive (as bridgestone seems to always be running $5 off or something where I buy balls).

That's as big of a complement as you can give a ball. If the new one is even better...

Tour BX, got my hands on 2, two ball prototype sleeves. Best ball ever. The hype is legit. Longer off the driver than MTB X or Pro V1. Plenty of check up spin on greenside shots inside of 50 yds, and the best part, does not overspin on full wedges and short irons. Softer feel than current Tour BX, about the same as Bxs. Feels better off putter than current model.

I too have tested the 2020 Tour Bx extensively and agree with the summary above. I have played V1 for several years and I can tell you Bx is the same or better than V1 in all categories. Two main things for me with Bx:

1- Bx was straighter, lower and longer than V1 with driver and long clubs.

2- Bx has significantly more check around the greens with chips and bunker shots than V1 with not over spinning 125 yards and in.

Outside of driver and short wedges I find Bx and V1 extremely comparable. Also, it appears Bx handles crosswinds better than V1.

First week of February 2020 Tour Bx will be released. I will be switching from V1 to 2020 Bx.

I am very excited to try this ball. I switched balls this year (long time V1 user) and my top 2 were TP5X and the BStone BX. I thought they were fairly similar From wedges through driver but I felt it was just a tad firm off my putter. If these new details are correct there is a good chance I will be switching as well.

It’s interesting to me to hear the Bx be compared to Pro V1 not Pro V1x. So will the B XS be more comparable to Pro V1x but at a softer compression?

Titleist is one of the ONLY manufacturers where their X ball that spins more.

Virtually every other manufacturer the X is the lower spinning ball.

Most manufactures have the X as the higher launch (most offerings) and the firmer option (all X balls).
