Mizuno MP-11

Some questions...
Well, I was at my local Golf Galaxy, getting a new R9 sleeve put on my TGw 90X for the 3 wood. While I was waiting, I walked over to the used area, and there were 3 sets of blades. MB 710s for about $500, some Hogan Apex blades for about $130, and then some Mizuno MP-11s for $150. I, being a Mizuno guy, immediately grabbed the MP-11 6 iron, and hopped in the sim. Of course, I payed no attention to the numbers on the sim, but I had to hit them nonetheless. I hit it pure. and I mean PURE. So then I grabbed the 3 iron. I hit it pure too. So then my shaft was finished, and I told my mom what I was spending my Christmas money on. A brand-new looking set of MP-11s for $150. These babies are absolutely MINT!!! I think someone has kept them in the closet for about 18 years. I mean, there's hardly any chatter on them at all!

So I got them, and I was wondering if anyone knew the specs on these bad boys. I know they are from 1992/93, and Faldo used them for his Masters. I just wanted to know if anyone knew. I'm sure Mat or someone well versed in Mizuno history knows. Thanks in advance guys!!

I couldn't find anything on my brief search but anyway nice pickup. I've got an old pristine set too that I haven't find info on. Anyway, enjoy them!

The mp11 have oldschool lofts with pw @50*. I don't think mizuno changed to 48* pw until the mp 29. The old lofts work ok because they are a full club weaker than modern sets. all you do is drop your gap wedge. 2-pw in the mp 11 is the same as 3-gw in modern sets. Often players have the lofts strengthened in these oldschool blade sets. That also decreases the bounce angle. Because of the condition of yours they well may be original. /the only way to tell for sure is to put them on a loft and lie machine.

I think the specs are the same as the mp14's.

Thats a pretty good price for the set, in mint condition. I'm assuming from your sig, you were at Louisville GG. I've picked up some pretty good deals there. What shafts were in them?

When I picked up my set of MS-11s, I was able to get the specs from Mizuno USA. MS-11 and MP-11 are the same club, per them.

The lofts are the same as the MP-29s, 21/24/27/31/35/39/43/48 for 3-pw (1i and 2i were 15/18). Standard lie angles were 57/58/59/60 for 3i-6i, and a half degree between irons from there to a 62* PW.

Edited to add: they have a decent amount of bounce, 4* in the 2i, 5* in the 3i, ranging very slowly to 6* in the 9i. PW bounce is 7*.

Offset is typical of Mizuno in the era. 4.3mm in 2i-4i, 3.8mm in 5i-9i, and 4.8mm in PW.

Bent mine weak, helped cut down on the offset.
