Any Long Term Srixon 785 Irons Reviews??

Good choice, though I would consider either a 585 or U85 for the 3i if you aren't already. Even with my 4i bent weak they visually looked very low lofted. I hit the 4i plenty high but given the 3i is mainly a tee club for me, I'd have been in U85 with extra stiff graphite.

I was considering getting the U85 in the 18 deg loft with the same shaft (I can't hit a driving iron with graphite for some reason).

I would use it off the tee only but honestly a traditional hybrid will offer more versitiliy.

The U85 is the best utility I hit but I can't justify a spot in the bag.

it's not a flyer if it's from the fairway :). Unless your fairways are inch high rough and you strike grass before the ball. That is scary when that happens. I Played z-forged and they were extremely consistent. I am now on to HMBs but at some point might pick up a backup set of the 785s and hope i fly everything long :)

Loving mine, can't beat the feel (love love the feel) and consistent direction but all when swing well. if they only had the forgiveness of the 565s and the feel of the 785s.

Got a set coming, too... not with shafts I can use, so I will be reshafting them, but I am really looking forward to putting them against my J15 CB. I was a Z745 lover and big Srixon fan. Excited to bag these soon!

Same here!

Gonna be hard to take the bag from the J15 CBs for as long as they’ve lasted.

I tried the Z-Forged, but the feel of the J15’s was still better.

I played mine with tour issue x100. They are fantastic. My dad is now using the heads with PX 5.5. I hit them yesterday when we played and they felt great with that shaft too. Awesome clubs.

Well...this will be my choice coming up, but the other way around. Tested a bunch this past season with z745 coming out on top. Grabbed some 785 for a good price as well. But I just came across a great deal on j15cb in amazing condition. Srixon won out last season after testing i210, 919 HMP and Forged, 790 and AP3...but I never could find a nice set of J15cb for a good price. Will be fun to see what wins out now -- 745 combo, 785 combo or the J15cb...hoping to just leave it between those three sets. We shall see.

I’m actually considering a possibly J15CB/Z785 combo set-never know?!?

They could honestly blend really well based on the shape and topline.

Mine are finally in!

I havent been this excited for a set of Irons for a really long time.

 

They look unreal at address. I can't remember at set that "looked" as forgiving whilst still being somewhat small.

I don't know when Ill have time to hit them but I can't wait!

Played 9 with them today. Excellent first impression.

They are much straighter than my MP53s. They don't spin as much as most reviews stated. It was obvious. Played for my normal draw / hook and the ball stayed out there. Didn't effect what happened on the ground because it was wet.

They were super forgiving and sounded great.

I have my 2020 Iron fitting booked for Saturday but these might be tough to beat based on first impressions.

I'd go for 785's. Less expensive and more shaft/grip options with no upcharge :)

Glad you like them. Did you end up keeping your 53s just in case? I’m going to grab a set of Z forged as I have a 785 4 iron head I can combo in. Srixon is unmatched in feel IMO. Work very well in the Ontario slop as well.

has anyone gamed them with modus 105x? I see a lot of people using the 120x in them but havent seen 105x

If it fits you go for it. Nothing wrong with that shaft. It doesn't work for my timing being on the lighter side but no reason it won't be effective if fit properly. Having hit them with Modus, PX, and DG, I much preferred X100 in them.

I was fit into both modus 105x and 120x, i had virtually identical numbers with both shafts i just opted for 105 because it was a few grams lighter. Love the shaft but havent seen anyone play the 105x in the srixons and they are an iron i'm considering getting built up for 2020

I know a lot have reported lower spin rate with these irons. Has anyone tried moving into a softer ball to combat this? Anyone with a higher SS ever try that? Currently game XV and bought these during the winter but thinking about maybe testing a softer ball in the spring.

Anyone having issues with this set in the wind? I'm thinking it's the shaft for me - Modus 120X in that it's a bit too soft mid section for the way my swing works. I've already got the lofts jacked 2* strong on the 785's so I may have to try a different shaft.

I'd think these heads would be good in the wind as for most people they seem to be lower spin and launch. Modus 120X is no slouch but it is likely on the softer side of X flex iron shafts.

That would certainly do it. Or Modus 120TX? Those are pretty popular. But yeah C Taper may seal the deal especially if you can really move it.

For those of you gaming the longer irons in the 785's (3i or 4i) - How are they (for you) in terms of forgiveness, launch, and spin?

I have the 4i and it's been great for me. My natural shape is a fade these days so no issues getting a nice high ball flight with plenty of stopping power.

According to the GCHawk I'm launching it at about 15* average with 3800 rpm spin. High-low forgiveness on the face is quite good, heel toe is what you'd expect for a 4i.

For those who have struggled with spin, how have you found it once they'd been changed to weaker lofts?

Have you had them on a launch monitor post change, I'm interested whether they really are low spin once the lofts are like for like with other players cavities
