Right arm - external rotation

So the right arm rotates externally (clockwise) during the backswing. What about from transition to impact. More external rotation? No rotation, or internal rotation? Sometimes I externally rotate to the backswing and then try to keep that feeling to impact - like the right forearm is facing the sky the whole time (it's not). Am I out to lunch?

Ok, let's try this. For those of you who lead with the elbow, what is the condition of the right forearm during the downswing and impact as you do this. Are you retaining supination?

Ok very helpful, thanks. So supination is supposed to be retained during the downswing. Or in other words, the external rotation of the right forearm that happened during the backswing should be retained.

 

Now, as the clubhead approaches the ball, the weight of the clubhead is causing the right forearm to want to pronate/internally rotate (hate to use the word - roll). Should this be resisted until after impact?

My understanding is that the trailing arm doesn't rotate in the backswing... it folds at the elbow, and its wrist hinges back. The lead arm rotates 90 degrees clockwise on the backswing, mostly due to the trailing arm folding and trailing wrist hinging.

 

On the transition and/or downswing, many teach trailing shoulder external rotation, which shallows the club.

I think failing to rotate the right arm in the backswing would result in a huge flying elbow and being very across the line...

Doesn't rotation of the right arm/wrist open the face? My right wrist cocks (supinates) with the elbow tucking to my right hip. I'm sure there is a little rotation, but I try to avoid it with the trailing arm.

And that would be bad why? If you believe in opposites, than being more internal at the top helps to go external starting down, both shallowing the club and generating more speed.
