Thanks BirdieBob, guess I'll need to purchase one of these sooner or later. I'm wondering if I could use a fairway shaft of choice (instead of a hybrid shaft) and use a shim with the adapter.

A fairway shaft is made for a longer length club, so you will not likely be able to get a high enough swingweight.

Cameron Champ would have trouble carrying this Hybrid 285 yards. Who are you kidding. This jokers ball speed 20 mph faster than a touring PRO. Too funny LOL

I was just in my local GolfMart nearby and just wanted to take a look at the 17* in person. I was looking on their rack and saw that they had a "demo" one for sale. $225 price tag. I checked with the sales guy and he said that it was a trade in. Not sure why they discounted it so much as it looks like it was hit maybe 5 times total. Needless to say, i have to get out on the range soon and try this thing out.

I actually play with a guy with those stock numbers (albeit in Utah, when he's at sea level it's more like 300 and 260.) It's silly to watch sometimes. 285 yard par 4, a little uphill- his 2 iron was getting reshafted so he said to me hard 4? And proceeded to get it pin high.

Ball speed 20 mph faster than a tour Pro. Really. Old rule If you see someone looking for their ball, go back 25 to 30 yards and you'll find it. People believe they hit golf ball much further than they actually do. I do dozens of club fittings and I know you will never get ball speed numbers of 165+ with a hybrid.

Just got my 17* in today from my rep to demo, was able to hit it on the range and then took it out for a few holes. Early thoughts are it’s pretty solid and could fill in the yardage gap I’m looking for. Wouldn’t call it fade bias by any means, maybe a little hotmelt in the toe could help with that if it stays in the bag. I’ve got the 80x tensei orange in it, on the fence how I feel about that.

Haven’t read up much on the shaft as I didn’t care for the wood model, but is the hybrid supposed to be counterbalanced like the wood versions?

Hard to believe we had a callaway demo day a few weeks ago at my club and they didn't even have any to try!

Got a 20 degree to replace my Rogue 5 wood. Very impressive so far, easier to hit, flying a bit higher, and a little longer as well.

LOL. @philcski totally missed that the post he replied to was in jest. His friend is probably Kyle Berkshire or someone like that. Honestly if any of these 300 yard (since it was a little uphill) 4 iron guys were at least proficient with their wedges, they'd at least be able to get on the mini tours. Since their driving irons probably go 320, they'd be wedging in most par 4's even a 500 yard par 4 they'd be hitting a driver like 380 or something ridiculous and an easy 56 degree in which would be a cakewalk. Too bad most long drive guys don't have consistent accurate swings but ones built more for power. Kyle has a real nice swing though.

I am wondering if the super hybrid is being pulled from demo days. I read that there are order delays up to March. Wasn't this planned to be a niche club, and maybe the demand is higher than expected?

I found a preowned 17 degree at PGASS that I put up against my G400 17 degree with the Tour shaft.

 

Picked up a consistent 3 MPH of ballspeed and 7 yards of carry. Launched higher with similar spin.

 

Needless to say I bought it....

Friend of a friend picked up the Super hybrid along with the Epic Flash driver and strong 3 wood. I got the opportunity to try the hybrid out last night and I have to say it lived up to the hype. High, long, and straight on every ball and I was not swinging well at all. I wasn't in love with the shape or size but I quickly forgot about that.

Purely speculative, but I am not sure this club is even released in the UK/Europe yet? All of the online shops I checked didn't stock it either. Given that most reviewers are from the UK, the lack of coverage is probably due to lack availability.

@adam2883 - Yes, the Tensei orange hybrid shaft is counterbalanced just like the wood shaft. That said, as it turns out, I am not a fan of counterbalanced shafts. So, as an experiment I put in a RIP Phenom hybrid 80G shaft and couldn't be happier. The best part about this experiment is that the RIP Phenom hybrid can be had brand new for around $30 - $40 bucks and is a great shaft. So, if anyone wants a good deal on some Tensei orange hybrid shafts (80G X) PM me.
