Best Winter Gloves? Have you tried the FJ Stasof Winter?

I am looking for winter gloves that would allow me to keep hitting outside during the winter. It seems like everybody agree that FJ is the go to brand. However, they now have a new option: the Stasof Winter. The pair cost double the price of the trustable (I think) Wintersof. Has anybody tried them? I wonder if they are worth the money ...

Thanks for your help !

I have not tried the StaSof Winter gloves but I do keep a pair of the WinterSof on hand for cold days. I would review those very positively. They are surprisingly easy to play in.

ย

I normally wear a Cadet M/L so my hands are pretty average in size. But as a guitarist with a desk job where I type a ton I tend to have thinner-than-usual fingers and they go numb pretty quickly.

ย

So the WinterSof are a good option for me. The WinterSof are thicker than normal gloves but not super thick by any measure. And the entire palm is a sort of leathery material so you can easily maintain a good grip.

I ordered a pair of the new StaSof Winter gloves from Carl's last week and hoped to use them over the weekend. When they arrived, I was disappointed to find that they had shipped the Wintersof gloves. Carl's has priority shipped a replacement pair of the StasSof Winter gloves, which I expect to receive today. I expect that I will be trying them out this weekend, despite the fact that I really bought them as a backup for when the Wintersof gloves, that I'm already using fail. I'm kinda hoping that I like the new gloves enough to make them my primary glove with the WinterSof as the backup. I will report on them after I play with them.

One of the nice things about the new StaSof Winter gloves is that, unlike the WinterSof gloves, they are available in Cadet sizes.

My initial impression trying them on last night is that they will not be as warm as the WinterSof. But will be better golf gloves. They are essentially a regular golf glove on the palm side and around the entire index finger and some type of fleece/felt fabric on the back side. The cuff is longer than on a regular glove. Like a regular glove, it has a velcro closure. Upon trying them on, the first thing that I noticed is that I had some exposed skin near the velcro enclosure, both above and at the cuff. I have a feeling that, these gloves will be good in very cold weather when wearing golf mittens over them between shots, as I think that they will provide better feel on the club than the old ones do. But, on days when golf mittens aren't necessary, I think that old style glove will keep my hands warmer, while sacrificing feel.

ย

I will still report back after using them.

I wore the StaySof Winter gloves today. It was mid-30's and windy. My initial impression upon receiving the gloves was accurate. They are not as warm as the old WinterSof glove. But, they provide more feel for the club. They were warm enough for today's weather. However, I think that I will need to add a pair of mittens to the new gloves sooner than I would if I were wearing the WinterSof gloves.

I have used these this past weekend teeing off in the mid30s and finishing in the low 40's and it worked excellent. I finally found a winter glove that FEELS great! I also have the newish Nike winter gloves. For cold, cold temps there is nothing better. The grip is great! It has some rubber to help with traction, which also helped close the clubface, something I struggle with in the winter. About mid-round I switched to the FJs as it got to the low 40's. I was blown away! They were amazing. I was more than warm and had no issues keeping my hands warm. In fact, I think I may just get mittens or the hand warmer waist thing and just wear these no matter the weather. If I don't I'll stay with switching between the Nike's and FJ's as the round progresses.

I use the Callaway mitts and put the hand warmers in the zippered pocket. I wear then between holes and just slip them off for the shot, then put them back on afterwards. They can provide too much heat when temps rise in to the fifties and no wind, then the hand warmers come out.

Like Platgof, I prefer mittens (mine are titleist) with a handwarmer in each one. I also rotate 2 balls and the one not in play on a particular hole goes in one of the mittens along with the handwarmer. They are super easy to slip on/off between shots and windproof and water resistant. I find that any of the thin "golf specific" gloves just end up making my fingers colder in the long run because the fingers are isolated and don't "share" body heat.
