I just got a Chalk Spider X and got 4 rounds in with it last week on a FL golf trip. It’s going to be a keeper! I love it. I am going to take advantage of MN winters and have the Velcro swapped out for magnets at my local sewing shop. Hopefully avoid the Velcro issues that I’ve read about.

I'm in Minny too, bruh! Where you at? I was too lazy to get my velcro headcovers fixed and I ended up ordering one from Caycee golf and a limited edition from Suglaloaf Social Club. I was going to have my dry cleaners (which also does tailoring) swap out with some new velcro on the headcover that matches my bag. I'll just toss the stock one I got with it. Worthless anyways.

Just got one of these after being pretty stuck to my Newport mil spec pro platinum Scotty Since 2010 and frustrated with lack of confidence and several 3 putts a round...have to say it really inspires some confidence and is much more stable. The Scotty feels better and obviously had a real classic feel/look but I’ll take results. Winter here but I’m very excited. Nice job TM.

I feel the exact same. I’m coming from a Scotty that looks way better but I’ll take performance and confidence the Spider X gives me.

Agreed! Results speak for themselves. I am a lot more handsy on the course trying to make strokes so this definitely matters more when I’m actually playing vs just practicing at home. Matter of fact I’m doing the same right now with the whole bag. Kicking the blades out and trying to let the ego take a back seat and just play better golf. ?

Has anybody compared the spider x with a odyssey stroke lab 10 on the course? I rolled them both great at the pga store but I can’t decide. I have Taylormade spider x on order but the stroke lab 10 was great for a cheaper price. I’m wondering if the extra weight in the head of the stroke lab would help more with distance control for me. The spider x head feels really light to me.

So what is the verdict on the true path sight line technology? I got fitted the other day using the SAM PuttLab and the fitter ended up fitting me into a Spider X slant neck.

 

My last 2 putters have been completely blacked out because I absolutely love the look of an all black putter. As of now, I want to create a My Spider X in all black with a single silver sight line (no true path technology).

 

The more and more I look at these putters, the more I am starting to like the copper version with the true path. My question to you guys is..... what are your thoughts with the true path? Is it working? Do you like it? Pros and cons? If you did get it, would you get it again, or would you rather a single solid color?

I am currently using the copper slant neck with true path alignment. I really like it. I putt left hand low with eyes directly over the ball. I can’t attest to my stroke or path or anything like that but this putter has helped with consistency a great deal. Lining the ball up to your line is a breeze and I really also like the insert. It is pretty firm which I prefer and gives great feedback in my opinion. The true path tech is up to you really. If you don’t feel you have alignment issues then you could most likely due without it, but for me I need all the help I could get with putting so it is a huge benefit.

i have been using the chalk over the past few weeks, really like the white to off white setup, large black alignment line. i was fit into no sight line with sam/edel, and just a sight dot, however... i can align this spider so easily and making most putts its in the bag regardless of the fitting results.

Forgive me if I am asking about a subject regarding the Spider that has already been addressed, I am somewhat new to posting here*

 

Do any of you Spider X owners have issues with the amount of loft? Taylormade claims it has stock 3 degrees of loft but many of them are around 1-2 degrees on the sales floor. I have taken to a fitter to see if it can be bent to have more loft but each time they have the face closes at address. I have found it best at about 2-2.5 degrees of loft. It is a frustrating issue bc when on this putter is so money. Have any noticed the loft issue?

I think this is the route that I’m going to go as well. The more I think about it, the true path technology was put on the putter for a reason, and that reason is to hole more putts. If it didn’t work, it wouldn’t be on there. I think I’ve convinced my putting ego self that the copper putter will be better for me.... and my wallet.

Can anyone compare the Spider X Single Bend vs Flow Neck? I am more of a SBST, but had very good results with the short slant. I am just not going back to that.

BTW, very long time Spider user. Just can’t find a Flow Neck in stores to demo.

You're talking about a "flow neck" as opposed to the "flange" ? According to the TM site it appears the flow neck is only available on a "My Spider" custom order so you won't see any of them in the stores.

Now if you are talking about the stock flange model I'd say for every face-balanced single bend putter on the shelves there are at least 3 flange models,,,,,,,,

I'm SBST and prefer the single bend face-balanced putter. The flange version feels like the head wants to open up on the backstroke and I'm just very uncomfortable trying to square it up at impact. Other flow/flange necks don't feel quite as bad, e.g. the new Odyssey Stroke Lab 10. That flange model doesn't seem to want to open up nearly as much coming back and is therefore easier to keep square (still like the FB better with the "10" though)

But maybe that's just me. YMMV

Thanks man. I didn’t realize the flow neck was only on the My Spider. After using a Single Bend I cannot got back to the stock flange or small slant neck. I agree with your observation about it wanting to open and close. Not for me. I tried a flow neck on the Toulon Vegas and really like the look. Wish I could try one in the X.

Who switched from Spider Mini to the X? What is your experience?

Bought a used Spider X and received it today. Yihaa - that was love on the first sight...

Compared to the Spider Mini, alignment ist much easier. The feel at impact is softer. Even with a really firm ball ist feels and sounds great.

Don't know which one you had but the original Spider Mini had a metallic face. The current Spider Mini has the same softer Surlyn(?) face as the Spider-Xs.

I should note that I have seen ONLY ONE of the current Spider Minis with the Spider-X soft face since their release - don't know why. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

My Spider Mini has a soft insert. But the insert in the Spider X seems to be softer.

Anyone hear or have an example of the ‘chalk’ having quality issues with the bottom of the putters? Was on a Reddit forum where a guy was complaining of “the carbon looking sticker that covers the bottom of the putter tends to start pealing”, etc.

I have 2 ‘chalks’, and A) didn’t know it was an adhesive, and B) upon inspection of my putters can’t see a seam that could possibly tear off...

Anyone hear of this?
