Flightscope Mevo - on sale on Amazon for $349

For anyone that’s used - what are your thoughts?

Also, any idea if there is a new generation coming? Assuming the price drop is just for the holiday, but would be annoying to find this is just clearing out ahead of a new version...

Everytime I think about getting a launch monitor, I tell myself I really don't need one. I ask how long will I actually use it. But $350 is hard to pass up.

It's a good deal for anybody looking for one. Wouldn't buy one just because of the price though. Remember you have to put those dots on the golf balls for it to read spin correctly.

I picked one up earlier today. Been eyeing it for a while...and that price is impossible to pass up. Considering Amazon's holiday return policy runs through the end of January, if there IS a new version coming, perhaps something would leak before it expires. If not...still a great price!

That is not true. You do not need the dot if you hit outside. The dot is only needed if you are indoors have a very short flight distance. I read that many have successfully used metallic markers.

I have one and used it a few times this season. I also have a SC200 from Swing Caddie, and Mevo is much more accurate because most other lower priced units really only capture club\ball speed, and launch angle is estimation based on your club choice, everything else is calculated. Mevo captures spin rate which affects distance and height calculation thus its able to get more accurate results. It seems though shot data is still somewhat effected by your club selection. I can never understand why but the effect on Mevo is a lot smaller than it did on SC200. A ball launched at 120MPH at 20* with 4000RPM spin should have the same flight and distance no matter which club I hit it with.

I didn't use it as much as I would have liked, and it's actually because the fact that I have to set up a phone to see the results, rather than just pop it down and go. While it's cool to have the ability to do a lot more using phone\tablet for capture and analysis, set up is a little longer and sometime I am just too lazy for that.

Does the mevo have to be a certain distance behind the ball (like 13 ft) in order to accurately give data?

It will be mostly used indoor. I have SC200, but want to switch.

Foresight, Flightscope, Trackman, and Skytrak should all just come together and produce what the people want. The total package indoor/outdoor machine. Doppler can’t do what GC does and vice versa. Just combine and be a monopoly already lol

Don’t buy used on these. They have lithium ion batteries (or similar) and if they die I doubt they can be changed. This is throw away tech, when it’s broken we throw it away.

just find a code and get $50 off the $499 price tag or find a sale on new. Not worth having an unwarranted $350 paper weight . Just my technical opinion!

Edit: there could be an electrical genius out there who could change out a battery on these though. Have to find a supplier of the battery from China and maybe solder it in.

Is there a reason you think the Mevos available during Amazon's $350 prime deal were used? I bought one and it came new in the wrapper. Just wondering why this comment was added to the thread.

I know what you mean. I haven't upgraded to 2019 yet with my free upgrade. But looking around you can buy a ownership transfer.

Possibly. Pro Tee seems to have some confusing, convoluted and interesting policies on transferring licenses. It will all depend on whether they even allow transferring to the Mevo+ (if it even supports simulation).
