Brooks koepka hand path

After being very frustrated at trying to keep by hands deeper on the downswing while shallowing similar to Fleetwood which fails quite badly I noted I could only shallow if my hands went out towards the target line more. This just didn’t look right so I persisted until I just came across this DTL of Brooke’s. Is this an unusual move for a pro. Just doing a few slow motion swings and I can get quite close to what Brooke’s does but starting the shaft dissecting the shoulder and hands past the the feet seems like I am well OTT.

Its an out then down move rather than down then out with the hands if this makes sense.

 

Any thoughts?

Brooks has a cut/pull draw move, Fleetwood is a draw move. I think Brooks move would be a lot harder to line up all the time for amateurs than Fleetwoods, but that's not universal. Not to mention Brooks hits down a lot on irons which isn't a very amateur friendly concept.

I’m just wondering if I have been fighting something that’s unnatural to me for too long. If I try and get my elbow in front my hands have always gone out quite far. In practice and slow mo very far out. Shaft shallows and it bisects my right arm but the hand always seemed very out and very high. When I try to get the hands deeper on the downswing my elbow will not play ball and it goes behind me unless I still pivot.

 

As someone who has dumped the club head(my p6 is quite a bit on the inside) this looks so much better at p6 but I have got there in a completely different way. It does feel like my AOA is much steeper than my usual shallow sweep.

Yeah this has what has put me off but I can’t make down work for me, there must be a reason why he goes more out I mean he’s pretty darn good

Taking your hands out really far will shallow the shaft a ton but there are lot of other factors at play on whether or not it will be functional.

I think how quick the chest opens gives a false impression of the hand path from a 2d down the line view. I think maybe brooks and when I do it are perhaps just rotating our chests sooner. When my hands are at p6 in the new swing the same hand position with my normal swing has the club almost at impact. Also I have retained my tush line on the new one and am much lower. The old swing my head would be the same height as when I started.

Koepka gets little depth in his backswing - most have their hands at their shoulders or just outside - Brooks gets his just inside - look how he stands the club up in the backswing - he is really steep - most ams would struggle from where Brooks ends up in the backswing - as noted Brooks hits cuts - ams would probably come down steep from where he is - I've seen quite a few ams here post swings with as little or less depth than Brooks and they pretty much all get steep in transition or come OTT.

You never show your top of the backswing position - if you don't have depth than you are more likely to want to get the hands out more versus down in order to shallow - Koepka is not the guy to copy - depth in the backswing is important to be able to shallow - watch that top ten hand path and see where everyone has their hands at the top - Brooks is first and everyone else is noticeably deeper.

One can certainly move the hands out more in transition than downs and still played good golf - biggest thing one is giving up is club head speed -

I really hate this position in my normal swing, the new one has the club head almost covering the hands. Hips more open and more flexion. I was wondering looking at the 2 swings which looked better. My old one starts more standard at p5 whatever standard is but carries on going down and releasing the club too soo. The new one at p5 seems to lack depth but everything from that point on looks much better which seems to be more important.

Need more right wrist bend (extension) at P6 (above pic). That will give the shaft a more inside approach.
