Greg Norman's Obsession With Tiger Continues

Well, something's going on. He was essentially absent from the golf scene for nearly 20 years. Then he pops up on Fox as a (bad) US Open commentator and picks up a Sirius/XM radio show. Those aren't things you do if you're comfortably making $zillions staying out of the limelight. He's amping up his presence for some reason. Since money is the reason of all things in America, I'm guessing there's a shortage in his portfolio somewhere.

Let's face it - the "shark brand" isn't what it was 10 years ago, probably reached its maturation. The restaurant feedback is mixed. His wines used to be good, no meh. The guy is worth 325-350M - plenty of cash. I read Laura Andrassy got a chunk of cash, no equity in the business but she did get a few cars, a house and some of the art collection.

Hey Brother, how goes it?

I didn't get into it in the initial post, however in full disclosure, his reason for going to my father’s office for the white out was not so much out of miserliness as the fact that my dad’s receptionist was a sweet attractive girl that he wanted an excuse to talk to, lol. He took advantage of the situation as he ended up asking her out, and they’re both great peeps and had a great time and Maddie and I thought that they made a great couple, though when she pressed for takin it to the next level, well, my Bud’s a lil gun shy as he is thrice divorced, so they went their separate ways.

The funniest part of the story, at least to me, is that he was sitting at another desk in the front office writing out the card, and when he finished he pocketed the white-out as it gave him an excuse to return it later, which he did and he asked her out at that time, lolol.

Maddie’s not kiddin and I do have to agree with her when she says that I’m the most “normal” of my Buds?

Have a Happy Thanksgiving and a Great Holiday Season?

My Best,

Richard

It gets even better! So the whiteout was part of an even deeper, more nefarious plan, and one which he executed successfully? He's good, your friend, very, very good.

I'm not surprised he's tight-fisted, though: with three failed marriages, all his money must have gone on alimony.

Anyway, I'm glad to hear that you are recovering well, and hope you can get back on the golf course soon.

I guess it goes back many years.

While reading the Dana Quigley thread I came upon this Quigley quote from a 2007 Sports Illustrated article.I played with Tiger Woods and Greg Norman once. It was a practice round before the 1995 U.S. Open at that course in New York, on Long Island. My Rhode Island buddy Brad Faxon set up the game. I remember Norman teasing Tiger about his golf shoes being sort of dirty and beat up—Tiger was still in college. It was fun. I made a hole-in-one. Tiger was good at that time, but Greg Norman was better.

The second letter:

My Dearest Friend Tiger,

It seems the snail mail express of the United States lost the first ghost-written, highly dramatic and overly punctuated letter I sent previously to your home. Sharing the opinion of my personal assistant, Ms. Pennywhistle, I felt it appropriate to follow up and send you a second letter not written of my hand. I would be remiss, however, by not sharing with you the details of the first letter. The paper was made of the finest linen drawn from the world’s best and most select cotton fibers. The fibers were sent to home of linen craftsman, Reston Precourt, for pressing and assembly. Reston is a living legend in the world of linen (same as me and golf). The 32 lb. fine stationery had a distinctive crispness that set it apart from ordinary paper (the sort you might receive from a player lesser than I).  In addition, it featured a watermark of me riding an ATV on a secluded white sand beach. With the leftover linen from Precourt’s workshop, I had a matching envelope  crafted by four female art students at Cambridge. It took them three months. The envelope was embossed with a great white shark and sealed closed with beeswax pulled from a honeydew melon yankee candle.

In Greatness,

Greg

Okay, I couldn't let this go, Richard. Paypal and Venmo are the single greatest golf apps ever created. Yes, I said "golf apps."

With PayPal and/or Venmo, you can quickly and easily pay your golf friends (and enemies!) in a no-hassle, secure way. No more "I'll catch you next time." Or "I lost too much today, can I pay you tomorrow?"

I beat your six ways for $20's? Simple! Just Venmo me $110 (You get a $10 discount to buy yourself a beer, of course) and we're good to go!

Bottom line: Get with the times, Richard!!! ;-)

Hahaha, Hey Obes, how goes it?

When I was in the game, and I’m goin back 6 seasons, none of the big games accepted any of the virtual pay methods, though Fox Chapel, Sewickley and the regular Oakmont SWAT does now however their big money Inter-Club and ours still doesn’t. Dinosaurs, Brother, dinosaurs?, hahaha

H•ll, If I had my way there’d be a local rule mandating persimmon woods for all Plusses??

C’mon, mid caps can now hit these big •ss bats 300+ and if they ever find the middle of the face, Lord knows how far they’ll take it??

Have a Merry Christmas and Blessed Holiday Season & New Year?

My Best,

RP

Lol, I don’t know if GN thought this through.

“Holey Moley is mini golf like you’ve never seen before and I couldn’t be more excited to be part of this fresh, fun, new TV series,” Greg Norman told Channel 7.

“I look forward to joining the other incredible talent on the Holey Moley team and seeing all of the competitors in the ‘Thunderdome’ of mini golf. Let the games begin!”

Be like,
