Cool. But is Rickie on the short list to win the next Major? No, he never really was. So the "overrating' of Rickie is non existent...invented basically for these threads alone. His game has limits, which is why he isn't really cracking the Majors. As for Finau...he's a young likeabale promising player, and it's their job to pump these guys.

 

Too bad for Koepka, DJ and JT. For all their wins and Majors are they are about as marketable as corned hake.

Overrated and they think they are something. Brooks, DJ, Woodland, and even JT recently should look in the mirror and ask themselves if the greats of the game in the past walked around with a cocky arrogant attitude like they do. These guys win 1 major and they think they are hot shit. What happened to having the greats of the game who were gracious winners, and showed respect to their opponents. It's called class and these guys don't have it.

Maybe they'd be more marketable like Rickie if they lost the chip on their shoulder???

Just as an FYI Brooks has 4 majors winning back to back US Opens and PGA championships.

And he is 4 times extra arrogant. My comment was a generalization about players today and how winning a big tournament changes their demeanor and attitude. Maybe instead of "1 major" I should have used "a major." My point I'm trying to say is the top emerging players are starting to act like they are bigger than the game before they have even proven themselves over a long career. We never saw Jack or Arnie, Watson, Mickelson, Els, Faldo and others conduct themselves like some of the players today who strut around. Even players like Fred Couples and Furyk are great examples of class acts on the golf course. And it's not that their aren't players who are gracious winners, but some of these guys need a reality check and to remember why they are so fortunate to play a game for a living, and not just a living that supports their family, but the kind of earnings that change your life forever. Maybe that is the real issue, their is too much money out there. You win 1 big title and you are basically set for life and your kids will never have to work a day in their life.

Athletes in every sport have a demeanor about them and the greats maybe even more so. When they step between the lines of their sport they use different ways to find that edge. JT imo is far from a time too big for the game. He grew up in the game with a dad who is a Pga pro. From what I have seen and read about him he’s far from too big for the game and gives back to charity. Koepka doesn’t even care about the game but like anyone when they feel disrepsecred will defend themselves, I think the way brooks has called out the media and even rory is good for the game.

some people are Richards regardless of money or fame and we are all allowed to have our opinions of them.

My opinion of Koepka has nothing to do with how the media treats him, or wether he cares for the game. Just like you said, we can all have our opinions. I'm just calling it as I see it. And if he doesn't care for the game, I'm pretty sure the guy has enough money to venture off and do something else with his life or just sit on a beach if he really dislikes playing the game.

This is a dicey topic...but I’ll chuck some wood on the fire. My vote is for Hideki. The media loves this guy and yes he has a unique swing and yes he’s made his home country super proud, but other than some high finishes here and there in non majors that I recall, I don’t really remember seeing anything that made me go wow. Now the players I particularly don’t care for is an entirely different topic....

I guess i agree with hideki but he is still very good. As for as brooks yes alot of great sports players have the im the best attitude. Think it helps them stay in the playing great mode..

I'm saying Rahm is tremendous and a year or so more at this win rate and i'll be convinced he isn't on an extended hot streak.

Jason Day has to be one of the most overrated pros in the history of the sport. He had a hot 15 month stretch in 2015-16 and won a couple times in 2018, but really his tee to green game is average at best and he doesn't have the attitude of a winner. Too fragile.
