Shaft length question

Yesterday I was playing a round and having trouble swinging in to out with driver (every time i purposefully swung in to out the head would hit the ground About six inches behind the ball). On the 18th tee I decided to try something. I choked up about an inch on the club and made the same purposeful in to out swing. And BOOM, what resulted was probably the best drive of my life. So I’ve decided to shorten my driver shaft by an inch and see what happens going forward....my question is, suppose I am right and my driver needs to be shortened to achieve the right length for me, do I need to look into shortening the length of all my clubs? I struggle with in to out throughout the bag.

See a coach first. Sounds like you maybe are dumping your rear shoulder which brings your low point was behind the ball. Unless you're really short relative to your arm length, you shouldn't need to shortern a club to avoid hitting the ground way behind the ball, regardless of club choice.

I have a 43.5 inch driver I play. Which is the old school lengths. I never liked the 45 inch standard they use now.

Before you shorten your irons, what do you play? Are they more modern newer clubs? I have Mizuno MP 14 that have the same shaft length as newer clubs but the lie angle is flatter. If you compare the two, the 14's appear half an inch shorter just on the flatter lie angle alone.

The newer clubs are built to upright and can cause havoc on some peoples swings. They blame it on their swing but a lot of times it is a club issue.

I'll never play newer irons unless I can have them built with the MP 14 specs.

I play Srixon Z785’s in standard length (37” 7 iron)

Before you shorten your driver have a couple more rounds gripping down on it. It may have been a one off shot. Don’t destroy the club until you are certain. With the other clubs try gripping down as well.

What are your thought on shaft tip weights for Drivers vs lead tape/hot melt? New driver for me. Lighter than i'm used to. 1.5 inches longer than i'm used to (45.5in total playing length w 60g S). replacing shaft with my "normal" shaft (44in playing length w 70g X).

If Hot melt is available, its a no brainer, it will always be the preferred, and unless.the player dont mind lead tape, its technically just as good as hot melt, If you want a cleaner look, and dont mind a small draw bias, a tip weight can be used.

The last thing I need is a draw bias. I am on the search for someone here in Northeast Pennsylvania that uses and has experience with hotmelt. Hoping to increase overall weight and maybe a little fill in the toe.
