Rukket Hitting Net = Broken Window

Just went through my fourth net. Great idea using two at a time as it not only adds additional protection, but also feels like it extends the life of the nets. This time it didn't break anything.

I have had my Rukket net for two years and it sits in my backyard. I hit an 8 iron thru my net a few weeks ago. Luckily only neighbor's grass is behind my house (I live in a row house in the city). I stopped using regular golf balls when hitting into it now.

The net has held up well as my kids use it for soccer and softball, along with golf for me.

Went through another net. Maybe the 6th? This time with all brand new practice balls. I finally found a use for all the nets with holes in them. I bought some lightweight screw hooks and am using them as 'wings' aka shank guards.

The idea of using two nets has definitely saved me some grief. Highly recommend for anyone considering this setup.

So, I’ve had my Hakk Pro for 9 months. Have used it for roughly 4 since it was too cold and wet in my garage this winter. Went through the first target canvas in about a week. Put a blanket over it for a while until they sent me a new one at the end of last season. Started using the net again sparingly about 2 weeks ago. The target canvas was destroyed almost instantly. I was lazy and just started aiming at the part that wasn’t ripped. Since then I’ve put two holes in the net. Thankfully I put some cardboard behind it to protect the drywall. Will call their customer service tomorrow. Would think that these things would last longer than 4-5 months of use.

old thread. Anyways...I use the portable net from Sports Net for nearly 2 years without any problem. Prior to that, I had built my own from PVC or con duit using nets from ebay (I do not remember the vendor). The strongest was an archery net that was sent as a baffle from a "cage" that I bought for under $300. I still have most all the netting. Never a hole or tear. I did manage to rip an early model of hitting net to shreds. It was one of those tent/umbrella types with a thin vinyl backdrop.

If you did that in 4 months only, you must be using old and cut up balls. Anything you hit into that you don't want to destroy immediately, you'll want to use brand new unscuffed balls (and often inspect your practice balls and retire them as soon as they do develop significant scuffs). Balls with scuffs and abrasions on them at high spin are basically just power sanders to nets or screens.

I suppose they developed some scuffs from hitting them over and over.  None of them were destroyed or in awful shape.  Not with any gashes or anything.  They weren't shag bag balls or anything that I pulled out of play because I was worried about a gash.  I did submit a warranty request through their site.  But, the net warranty is only 6 months according to their site.  So, chances are they will deny it.  Not a problem but I would likely not buy another net from them.

Yeah I did the same to my first Rukket net as well just by not paying attention to the balls. Rukket warranty is great, and I don't think you'll have a problem. I got a net replacement for my SPDR a full year after I bought it. Since then I've really paid attention to the condition of the balls and have had no problems at all with wear since.

Nets don't last very long in my experience.  LOL 4 months is pretty good for a heavy usage net.  Painter's canvas from Home Depot works the best of anything that I have tried.  Right now I have 3 layers with the smaller ball catching layer hanging loosely.  This setup lasts a long time.

For those of you who have gone through more than one net, can't u just cut the old net up into 2'X2" squares and hang them with zip ties over your impact area ?  There is only one zone that gets hit and the rest is usually pristine.  I would use thin zip ties to attach these recycled netting squares

I just got shipping notification.  Rukket will be replacing the netting under warranty.  So, I was considering doing exactly that.  The canvas they provide doesn't seem to hold up well and I think it definitely needs an extra layer of something to give it some longevity.

I have tried stuff like that.  Zip ties cut through the net strands pretty fast though.  But yes I have made net repairs of different sorts over the years.  Not worth the effort for me and the look of having a net over a hole in the main net is not very appealing.
