Muira PP9003 vs Epon AF505

Hi ,

I am currently using Muira PP9003 and am thinking to change to Epon AF 505 for added forgiveness and distance .If anyone has some experiance with both clubs or advise for me will be great .Thank you

I have a set of PP9003 straight necks that I played a couple years ago--great set (mine are black) that I will never part with. Just started playing the Epon AF 505's about 2 months ago--IMO the Epon's are indeed more forgiving and longer (however, as you know, the lofts are stronger on the Epons)--certainly in the longer irons with the bit wider sole, etc.. My only slight issue with the Epons is that I'd like a bit less offset (they are not too bad compared to other JDM irons I've hit), as I prefer very little (i.e., that's why I chose the 9003 straight necks).

I have the PP9003 and the Epon 503. I didn't really like the 505 as I'll agree it does have more distance than the 9003 but I find it only slightly more forgiving than the 9003 and not as forgiving as the 503.

Granted, I've played the 503s for a couple of years and I only tested the 505s in two golf studio sessions, so I may need to adjust to the 505 but, for forgiveness and distance, I was more impressed with the Epon 705 and got my dad a set of those.

Thanks but I was told with the 705 the ball does really stop on the green ,my all flight is quite low .what was your experiance when using 705 ?

That's a valid point. I have a low ball flight as well but don't have any problems sticking a green. Assuming a decent strike, I'd be surprised if I was more than a club length from my pitch mark with a scoring iron.

My father however, maybe because he swings slower, doesn't really get any stopping power with any of the game improvement irons (or anything more than a wedge nowadays). Over the last 10 years, he's adapted to allowing for about 20-30 feet of roll when he aims for a pin.

I would always suggest you try such an expensive club before you buy it so you can check exactly how it performs for you. If you can't, I'm a little hard pressed to think of something along similar lines. The 705 definitely has the pop of the SGI irons but I very much prefer the feel.

The 705 with such strong lofts could easily be bent weaker to achieve the desired flight window and spin and still be plenty long and forgiving. I played a set for awhile and launch was no problem even with the standard lofts.
