This is how you get weight low and back and i'm excited about it because this is the last big frontier in modern driver performance; a truly LOW and back CG. This is what I called a few weeks ago about how TM has followed a pattern of using the last model in a generation of drivers to sort of seed the tech of the next generation. The M6 in this case being the jumping off point for this particular sole design, one that Cobra and Cleveland have already been chasing and that i'm sure we will see more of in the coming years.

For all the marketing fluff, this could be a pretty big step towards having our cake and eating it too with both low spin and extremely high forgiveness.

Don’t be upset! The Driver looks great! This will bring more discussion to it as well!

I would like to ask, are there any thoughts or plans to sell the driver and fairway heads separately without shafts? I for one have purchased after market shafts for use in my current M5 driver and 3 wood, and I would be far more inclined to upgrade to the SIM driver if I could purchase just the head by itself.

I have never really had success with the “made for” pre installed shafts. I understand this may cut into gross margin, but it could be an additional option and revenue stream for golfers who have shafts that have been fitted for them.

All the best!

Just because they feel different doesn’t mean they aren’t the same. The small batch 70 is going to feel different than the small batch 80. The torque and weight difference will make them feel different. The small batch 70 being TX will feel different than the 6.5 70 non small batch. They are all based on the same yellow smoke design and to achieve the different torque and weight px changes the what flags are used to create the shaft. It could be material used, length or thickness of the flag or even orioentation.

The small batch has been their tour use designation thus the TX design. After tour testing and input they make tweaks and then if they choose to put them in retail it become a premium offering like the HC but the small batch is more marketing since it’s nothing more than another flex within the line of yellow Just like in the green.

I played both in the same driver head all season long. I don’t want to go round and round. They are very different shafts. I would not play the non ever again and would be happy to pay extra for the small batch version. I realize the HZRDUS Yellow is, at this point, the only line this would be referenced to. They are even listed with different butts on PX’s website. They play completely different and produce different ball flights. They might be painted the same, share counterbalanced characteristic, but that’s where the similarities end. Please trust me on this.

Eh, you could argue that the TM R9 Supertri and even the R7 were sniffing around this concept. Cleveland had something similar going on with the HiBore XL as well and the Ping G400 series was also doing something similar. The sole design has just been exaggerated with this new line and makes sense as to why, its the most practical way to concentrate weight back while keeping it low.

I understand they play different and that they feel different and that the butts are listed different and that is where the flags and materials come into play. The small batch is nothing more than a TX flex where the non small batch shafts are standard px 6.0 and 6.5.

Other than reading some specs it sound as if you aren’t familiar with shaft designs. The hzrdus yellow smoke all use the same mandrel which is what the shafts are rolled on. They have a similar design based on that and what flex and torque px wants to achieve they will modify the materials used in each flag or some other variable like length or orientation. If someone played a TX yellow smoke or a small batch yellow smoke they would be the same shaft. You obviously fit better into heavier lower torque shaft but that doesn’t mean the non small batch is a terrible shaft or one of lesser quality.

Just not true about the TX Flex being the only difference. The Smoke Black and yellow are the same shaft and torque for every weight class with the SMOKE yellow adding a few grams of weight to the butt sections to create a counter balance shaft. The Small Batch SMOKE yellow are COMPLETELY different shafts........

Excuse me for jumping into the debate, but I just looked into this a bit out of curiosity. First, the Smoke Yellow and the Smoke Black are not at all the same shaft with the only difference being counterbalancing if that is what you were implying here. They are completely different profiles.

Regarding the difference between the standard Smoke Yellow and the Small Batch, it seems to be the same as what they did with the Smoke Green in that the Small Batch version is quite a different shaft. The TX flex version seems to only be available in the Small Batch model, there does not seem to be a non Small Batch TX flex. This again is the same thing they did with the Smoke Green, the Small Batch TX flex being a different profile from the standard non Small Batch.

The addition of both a non standard designator like "TX", which means different things based on the company using it, and these "Handcrafted/Small Batch" monikers seem to confuse as much as they create market intrigue and I wish it could be more simplified and transparent.
