Confused with lengths. Mizuno v Titleist

How do these two companies measure? Both list the same irons lengths, yet on two occasions, in different stores, the Titleist is the shorter club. My eyeball says it’s a bit over a quarter inch.

Titleist measurements are with grip on Mizuno measures with grip off...and you are correct Mizuno is longer (even though I have had Mizuno reps in the past tell me different until I showed the on a maltby measurement board)

I noticed the same thing between the MPs and the 620s. Looked to me more like 1/8 in. or max. 1/4 in. It could be as simple as whether they measure from the start of the grip cap or the end of the grip cap.

Its only a few mounts ago since i sendt out a mail to all the "big ones", asking for their measure standards, and for short, Titleist and Mizuno is in different ends here.

Titleist specs is UN-gripped clubs, measured to play length with strandard lie angle (variable lie makes a difference for how long the club measure compared to a fixed 60* ruler)

 

Mizuno has a more cryptically measurement, they also use actual lie angle, but its a bit unclear if they measure to the end of shaft, or "the edge of grip cap" (they dont measure to the end of the grip)

After they found that measurement, they subtract 3/8", so on the paper they will look shorter than they really are compared to other brands.

 

Taylormade has as the only one, gone all in using the USGA method for drivers where we use a fixed lie angle of 60* on the ruler, and measure to top of dome on the grip (to the absolute end of the grip)
