Quality iron ferrules- 3 ring 4 ring? Aluminum?

Recommended Posts

I bought some “grail golf” ferrules off eBay on my first shaft job. They look okay. But they did not do well turning them. So I’ve got a bunch of shaft work to do from soft stepping some dgs300s to swapping shafts. I’m looking for some better ferrules. I’d really like some triple ring or even quad ring ferrules- just black with white or red rings would be cool Anyone know anywhere besides the $45 bbandfco place where I can get triple or quad ring ferrules?

are aluminum ferrules useable? Do they damage clubs or shafts? Are they reusable? Can you match the hosel or even turn them? They look pretty cool it’d be cool to get ferrules that are easily reusable

there are some premium ferrules that look pretty vintage on eBay that look pretty nice. Anyone try these?

Here’s a link (12) Ultra-Premium Quality Iron Ferrules Black w/ White Rings 1” | eBay

are these on par with spargo? Maybe once I throw down on a set of custom miura blades with custom paint and iomic grips. I could justify some $45 ferrules but right now it’s difficult

I know I’ve got a ton of questions about ferrules- but I’ve always wanted a super cool looking set of irons I’d love to hear of ferrules that match grips available out there- like a ferrules that matches the pure blue grips? That’d be rad!

thanks!

I've ordered some wannabe-Hogan ferrules off eBay with mixed success. They were black with two red rings, and the first two batches of the I ordered had good color and seemed well made, the third batch was definitely less bright of a red (noticeable). All ordered from the same place as "Premium" quality ferrules. As long as I didn't try to mix and match them it was okay. Good luck!

Unless you're trying to match a specific ferrule I've never had an issue with ferrules from Golfworks. There are a large number of different OD ones available which reduces the amount of turning required - much easier to match OD than in the past.

For all the recommendations I see for Cellparts, their site is clunky to use and their customization options readily available don't seem all that vast. I'm sure they would do a custom order if it was worth it for them to do it, but there isn't any information shown about minimum order size/price.

Same for GrailGolf.

What are some options for more unique ferrules like these from Tourspecgolf?https://www.tourspecgolf.com/bb-f-ferrules-10pcs.html https://www.tourspecgolf.com/watanabe-ferrules-for-iron-10pcs.html

Cell-parts is the only way to go for custom ferrules! Jullian is awesome to work with! They can make basically any color combo you want! And their ferrules are the best quality you will find.

The seller I ordered from online was golfzone. Like I said, the colors from different batches did not match up real well, but if I wasn't trying to mix and match from different orders, I would be pleased with their product. I would order from their ebay store again.

Was hoping someone would chime in about the aluminum ferrules. I used my first set of them early this year. Used 1000 grit paper to turn them & it seemed to work well. Wondered about using a 600 grit, but was afraid it might make too big of a mark on them. Now if I do not go to the 3/8" Howard Jones put out for ROI this winter, the set should stay in for awhile. Titleist 735cm with PX 5.5.

OP said he was looking for options other than BB&F because they're more expensive than what he wants to spend.

So you’ve just tried the aluminums once? I dig the looks of some of them.

i love the titleist 735cms. I have a 7 and 9 iron (1cb and 1 mb) with kbs tour 120s. And they are the best feeling titleist forged set I’ve ever played. I would go buy up every set if they had less offset.

I had a set of Titleist 716cb I recently came across with kbs c taper 115. Beautiful set (woulda been a great candidate for brushed aluminum ferrules) and they didn’t come close to the forgiveness and feel of the 735cm - I really wish they made the titleist Phil mickelson set in right hand.

735cm look killer with white paint fill. I’d love to see pics of the aluminum ferrules

Agree with TRHODE. I have used Grail Golf ferrules and agree that they seem less substantial or thinner. I just re-shafted some clubs last night with some new BB&F co ferrules which I think are superior. They are definetly more thick and sturdy. You do get what you pay for with each of these and I will continue to use both depending and needs/wants.

I'm going to be doing a rebuild over the winter, and was intrigued by the aluminum ferrules, but was concerned about how to turn them down, I guess this is as good a place to ask if anyone has any experience? The ones I were looking at were red, not "bare metal", so wondering what would happen if they need sanded down?

The sign of a nice quality build is a nicely finished ferrule. And buying ferrules that are pre finished for diameter often result in a few clubs that are slightly mismatched. Guys post photos all the time around here of their custom builds with the ferrules oversize. Not cool. I usually shoe shine down the size using sand paper roll strips but I'm in the market for a proper ferrule turning machine, or at least an attachment for my grinder. Soon.

Can +1 for Cell Parts. I will say the responses weren't as quick as many say, as I did have to follow up, but the product is amazing and she was definitely helpful with ordering. Response time could have just been from the busy season. In terms of custom orders, here's the info I was given - Minimum order 12 pcs at $2.4125 per piece. (this price could've been specific to my order as I went with 5 rings) The price goes down if you order 50, but she said they were only taking orders for 12 right now. I ended up getting them about a week after ordering which was great.

In the past I have ran a drill bit through the top portion very slowly to make it slightly bigger. Also done it for .355 ferrules for .370 shafts.
