How do YOU read GOLFWRX ?

This site, as many other forums do, give a number of choices on how their users might read the board, access their favorite topics, etc.

I've seen many times when people would ask someone, who'd asked a question in a thread, "What's wrong with you ? Didn't you see so-and-so's post about that in the other forum ? And the obvious answer is "Nope, didn't see that". LOL

Anywho, I've attached a pic of my latest page, where the original poster had asked for advice, got 30+ responses in 3 weeks, but had never returned to answer some of the questions asked of HIM nor even acknowledge the help offered. The site indicates he's visited since he posted his thread.

Now, either he has totally forgotten about his thread, or hasn't clicked on the "My Discussions" link (very likely he's not investigated what all the links do), or doesn't have his notifications set up.

So, I guess I'm just curious as to how people read the board - or, perhaps just how people have their (browser) bookmark set up to access WRX. Presumably one would set up their bookmark to the "link" they most wanted to view,,,,,,,,, but maybe not.

Since I'm not sure how, or even if, I can include multiple poll questions, I'll just ask you to vote on the category you FIRST GO TO to when you access WRX.

If you feel up to discussion and/or adding a post, you might add your sequence or preference, either all 9, or just 2 or 3, whatever. As in 9-4-1-2-6-7-5-2-3-8.

Personally, MY bookmark is set up to "Posts Participated In", however, if I see there are "notifications" I will usually look at them first and then go to PPI. From there I'd go to "Recent Discussions". After that it's completely random. So I guess I'm 9-5-6.

I usually go like this in terms of steps:

1) Check the little bell thing (#9) to see if anyone has responded to my posts

2) Check posts participated in (#5) to see what's going on

3) than just go to main forum page and check various forums for stuff

BTW i do find it weird when people come on here and post what seem to be real questions for discussion (not troll posts) and then just disappear for weeks.

Depends on the media I'm using. Desktop starts at Forum homepage (2). iPad starts at (4) Recent Discussions. In either case I will go directly to Post Participated In and then Recent Discussions. So, 2-5-4.

The one thing I will always do is check frequently for responses if I have started a thread or posted in a thread. Lack of respect for people who start a thread and then never reply to anyone who goes to the trouble of responding to them.

I pretty much go to 5 then 4. If bored with 4, I will rummage through individual forums/sub-forums.

4 is normally my first option. Then I'll glance at 9. If I've posted in one of the giveaway threads that's still open then that number can be pretty high. I'll click on the bell to see if I see any threads I'm interested in following. If I see something there, I'll go click on 5, check that out and then 4 again. Rinse and repeat.

Occasionally if I'm interested in something in particular, I'll click into one of the subforums and take a look directly, but for the most part I go through recent discussions.

After giving it 2 months off - a BST ad got me back on here - I'm trying to give it another go, but the UX is still rubbish. Those dumb adverts and ghosting instead of genuine blocking is so much wasted real estate, seems feedback is still crocked, but maybe search is OK again. We'll see after new year and work gets back to normal, but ya painfully.

I usually go to the forum root and open the categories I'm most interested in in a new tab. Then starting at the first one, I'll open the threads from that category into new tabs; read all those then close out the category and move on to the next one.

... which is more or less how I've read every forum for these 20+ years I've been internetting. Pre-tab days (yep, I remember those) it was new windows.

I pick a forum , usually equipment. Browse forums from there. With this new format I've frequently landed in a completely different forum and when selecting a thread land in the op profile instead of thread discussion.

Am I doing it wrong? I've been clicking on "Recent Discussions" for the past decade and just commenting on whatever comes up that is either interesting or troll-worthy.

Ask for browsing the Forum, I usually go to Notifications first. But then I usually go to new posts. It's a crapshoot after that, now with this new format I don't know where I am most of the time. LOL.

Recent discussions always (4). I don’t always pay attention to the specific forum, just see posts in the recent discussions. I’ll also check notifications, of course. I don’t usually view my discussions because I seldom start a thread.

recent discussions doesn't discriminate the subforums though. I don't want to see what's new from the JDM subforum or LPGA or something. Not that there's anything wrong with that

I've found the recent discussions thing easier to keep up with lately. A year or so ago, you clicked on recent discussions (or whatever it was then) and the first page of results was about 10 minutes worth of posting. You kind of had to be more discerning if you wanted to catch all the threads that might be interesting to you. Now you can go through recent discussions and just skip over the threads that don't interest you.

I suppose, i usually only go to 3-4 subforums (19th hole, equipment, general golf, Instruction , Rules because you get some funny threads there)

The Tour section if you've had a few drinks it can be entertaining. But it's mostly just trolling these days

I go to the main forum index, start with the equipment sub-forum and work my way down through the relevant sub-forums I find interesting. I usually check through the thread titles on the first page of each sub forum I check, and if something piques my interest, I’ll click and give it a read.

I am just hoping that 2020 brings some buzz back to this site. I has been feeling very sluggish. I don't know what the WRX owners have in mind but I hope they bring some heat this year. I would love to see more forum interaction from them.

I always check the classifieds first. I missed a real good deal on something not too long ago just cause I was 30 minutes late and because of that I always check that page first. Then I head over to the various forums to see if there are any good discussions going on
