My DIY Golf Ball Rack project

Had been eyeing making a new rack for my logo golf ball collection. Had a store bought rack that held 72 balls. But was plain and that boring fake cherry dark brown look. I really like this one: http://www.woodshopics.com/golf-ball-rack/

Unfortunately they don't provide any dimensions, that I could find anyway. I looked it over and made some guesstimates and came up with what I think they did. My guess that I'm right on the money or not very far off.The example was 6 balls by 18 rows for 108 balls. Mine was 6 balls by 15 rows for 90 balls. Didn't want to take over the wall. Mine is made from cherry, one of my fav woods to work with. The example looks like cherry as well.I'm a wood worker and love building things. If I can build something for golf then that's a triple bonus for me. In either case, I'm really proud of what I did.I do have a PDF of the sketch. PM me and I can email if you like.This is the finished piece in the raw before filling and final sanding.

Got it mounted and installed my balls tonight. Already looks like I will need to build a second one.

 

I am glad I didn't do 18 rows. I think the proportions look better.

I did modify it a bit with less balls, purchased crown. And had to develop my own dimensions as I didn't get any from that page.

Looks great. I like the idea of using tees to hold the balls.

Im almost finished with a second ball rack. This unit is made from 3/4" cherry veneer plywood. No need to glue up solid wood boards., I didn't mention how to I trimmed 180 tees. I wanted the Tee length to be 2". Insert in 3/4" wood and that leaves 1 1/4" exposed.

To cut the tees I made a little jig to mount on a miter gauge.
