EPIC FLASH SUB ZERO DIAMOND HEADS???? (Pics added page 7)

Just got a chance to hit my double diamond for the first time. Used weights instead of hot melt to get the head weight where it needed to be. Boy, was that loud. My thoughts are that this head is less fade biased than the triple was, comes out a little bit lower with noticeably less spin. It was much straighter and more forgiving on heel mishits, so it works better for me. Good luck ballooning this head. It does hook easier than the triple, but by no means is it left prone. I think the triple might be better if you miss high toe. The triple gave me a wow moment the first time I hit it, and I think the double just did it again. Don’t let the low spin, extreme fade bias reputation scare you off. If you can hit the triple, you can hit the double. I’m going to hold test these head to head some more and get some actual numbers, but this double might be something special.

Just got it on the course for the first time, and the triple was the clear winner. Had trouble keeping the double in the air, so I had to switch to a higher spin ball mid round to get it to keep up with my triple. Going to go on to the BST and I’ll keep an eye out for a single diamond head to test. It is crazy low spin even on mishits, so don’t be afraid of it if you have the club head speed or need spin reduction. I guess I just don’t need as much spin reduction as this guy gives.

Has this been confirmed? Anyone gaming the single diamond who can provide feedback?

From Ben at The Tour Van;

1 diamond is mid launch with neutral flight - 460 head

2 diamond is low launch with slight fade bias - 460 head

3 diamond is launch with slight fade bias and slightly higher spin than other SZ heads - 450 head

??? and Diamana ZF were on fire today. I find the Triple Diamond ZF combo very straight hitting and longer than my M6 Tensei Pro Blue combo. This could be the first driver I can't hook. It’s a baby draw or a pull. So far neither have put me in trouble.

Sorry, I don’t know the answer to your question. My only experience is with the Triple Diamond which spins roughly the same as my M6 of the same loft.

Wanting to revive this thread a little bit to see if anyone has more recent feedback in regards to the double diamond or single diamond heads. I went in for a fitting on trackman and hit the retail EF SZ head up against my epic SZ and was averaging around 8 to 10 yards more with the retail EF SZ over my SZ. Both same loft and using same Tensei PO shaft. I tend to have a fairly straight ball flight due to the fact that I don’t have a hard rotation thru impact and my swing path is pretty neutral. If the single diamond head is slightly more draw biased than the retail SZ head and still low spin, that might be the ticket but since I am a bit more of a higher spin player with my driver the double diamond is really intriguing to me.

For those of you in that have more knowledge on these heads, can anyone compare the single diamond head to the retail EF SZ head. Which one is more draw bias? Which one is lower spin? I have a tendency to hit a pretty straight ball flight with either a very slight push or a very minimal draw. I don’t have a whole lot of a head rotation through my swing and I think a draw bias head would fit my swing really well, but I would like to make sure I go with the lower spinning head of the 2 mentioned above.

Just got my double diamond the other day and hit it against my triple diamond. For me, it’s definitely lower spinning and even more fade biased than my TD (which is pretty neutral but anti-left). Distance wise it seems To have the same carry but imagine the DD will roll more due to the trajectory for overall longer drives. As mentioned before, the TD seems a little more forgiving but that I’ve probably grown accustomed to the shape. I attached some pics and you can see there’s definitely a head shape difference. DD is shorter face to back at address and as someone mentioned before the trailing edge is lower to the ground

Just did some testing again with the triple diamond. I tried both the Tensei AV 65TX tipped 1" and a KK DC XT 70TX tipped 0.5". The head is 9* and I had it turned down to 8*. I had some hotmelt added in the neutral position. I also added a 12g front weight and 6.5g back weight as compared to the 6g front weight and 12g back weight that came with it. With neither could I get the spin down below 2500/2600. Interestingly with the heavier front weight versus the heavier back weight, I didn't see much launch or spin difference. Ball speeds were the same 162mph for average carry of 280. Then I took the back weight out altogether and added some lead tape up near the front. The ball speed was the same 162 avg, but got spin down to 2100 and avg carry on GC2 went up to 292. Even though the swingweight was a little light, dispersion didn't suffer, but man it does show if you can get the spin down even just a few hundred RPM, it could really be worth it. It sounds like the double diamond may do this.

The Triple Diamond isn’t designed to be an ultra low spin head. It’s meant to spin more and offer decent forgiveness on mishits. For me, the extra spin is a blessing as it helps me get more predictable and consistent carry with less curve to the ball. Compared to my M6, in my multiple LM tests, the TD is as giving up 3-5 yards carry but is so much straighter thanks to the extra spin. I’m hitting more GIR playing out of the fairway or light rough which is helping me shoot lower scores.

It’s defintely worth zthe forgiveness and consistency in your case only giving up 3-5, but if someone is giving up 10-15, maybe more and only giving up a little forgiveness, it’s more of a conundrum. That’s why they make all these models...something for everyone to get the most out of their game.

Anyone have more feedback on the Single and Double Diamond heads? The best performing driver I have ever used was the Callaway Big Bertha Alpha 816 Double Black Diamond, would that be most similar to this Double Diamond head, or is that different?

I also had great results with the previous standard GBB Epic, anyone have any idea of how these compare to the old Epic models and if it's really worth the upgrade?
