Kirkland Signature (Costco) golf balls (MERGED) (NO BST POSTS)

Yes, played another round with these and still not feeling like a ball I'll like. That doesn't mean it's not a good ball just kinda like a "dull thump" instead of a "crisp click" feel off irons and driver. Off the putter it is a nice crisp feel and sound. I have 2 dozen and wanna love this ball and will play it on and off again...

I'm here a little late but caught some comments regarding box versus clam shell. I've played the same 3 balls for 2 rounds now. I know I hit a couple of 7irons thin but did not lose any distance. Balls stayed scuff and cut free...

As it was suggested here by a fellow poster, I took a box of Ksigs that I bought 2 years ago today. Along with a box of K3's. So if your near the Naperville store there is a box of Ksig's sitting on the shelf.

They also have a pallet of Callaway Tour Softs there also.

.

Stay the Course; and my the Course be with you!

Yup. It was a one time run of luck, sourced luck - a one-time buy for Costco where they go EXTREMELY lucky to buy a ball that actually performed for a junk house brand.

All is back to normal in the golf ball world where you need to play real brands with real R&D to get real performance.

lol what? This isnt some JFK conspiracy....its common knowledge Ksigs are bought from various companies who make balls. Costco does ZERO R&D besides 'who should I buy a batch from this quarter that makes financial sense'.

It happens in dozens of industries. The batches are hit and miss and MANY times the initial batch is the best due to loss leading and over-spending on the initial product but it ALWAYS goes downhill from there. Anyone who follows business trends knows this.

I dont understand why Costco has such fanboyism. Did they save the common man from the bourgoise that is $40 Titleist and Bstone golf balls? Did they provide something DTC companies dont? It baffles my mind why anyone cares about Ksig balls and doesnt just move onto the next 'deal' because thats all Ksig WAS and IS - a 'good deal'.

Bad news for fans of the 3 piece ball. Formerly $23.99 for the 2 dozen pack, the price in store and online just went up to $24.99. That's an increase of over 4 cents a ball ! Either Costco is trying to exploit us, or the mfr. raised its cost to Costco which has impacted Costco's very thin profit margin. Time for the 3 piece ball fans to look at different options? ;-)

Your comments show that you don’t know the much about Costco and how it operates. Also, if what you say is true, how do you explain the ongoing availability of the 3-piece? And nobody has suggested that there has been any decline in quality with the 3-piece. So, you argument has no credibility with me.

And for all of those who are into Costco “fanboyism”: I finally got to try out the new KS4 ball. (They were delivered to our other place, and we didn’t get back so that I could pick them upuntil Christmas.). I have only played one round with one ball so take this FWIW. I had no trouble at all. Mornings are cold in AZ and my first reaction it on the putting green was that is is a bit clicky off the putter. But it was pretty cold. Distance wise I thought it seemed about the same as the original 4-piece, but I don’t have a real good sense of that yet. It does spin a lot on approach shots, seemed to really check upon the green. One of the things I care about is cover durability and I don’t think that the cover on the ball is as resistant to scuffing from iron shots. Not bad, no worse than Pro V1s, but not as good as the original 4 piece.

I am a low handicap player, but don’t have a high swing speed. I rarely top a shot, but I also don’t have the strength anymore to peel the paint off the cover. I see all of the pictures here of balls that are terribly cut. Nobody talks about the quality of the shot that caused the cut. Could it be that a lot of these cuts are due to bladed shots, just like a bladed shot used to cut balata balls? Not that we want balls that are bad like the old balata balls, so there’s no question that this is unacceptable per modern standards. But maybe the ball will perform well if we don’t make thin hits...?? Pretty early for me to think this, but honestly I saw no problem with this ball, except for a small cover scuff that didn’t really affect much.
