...you've been waiting on every shot for the last 5-6 holes on a group of 8 people, 4 caddies and 4 players. At least two of the players have completely lost their game, past the point where they manage to get the ball back in play on first try. Nevertheless they keep looking for every ball and take their time over every single shot - and the group moves forward at turtle speed. And then, as the clouds are getting darker and rain starts coming down, one of the players walks back from the green towards where you stand, waiting for the green to clear: "I have to hit a second ball... you see, we're playing this Ryder Cup format match"... You have 7 holes left of the round, you know for certain that it will be dark and you'll be soaking wet before you reach the club house. And all you're looking forward to by now is a pint in the club house.

Well let me rephrase that he left 18 balls cause if he hit it bad he didn't go get them. Thank good ness or would have been worse searching for some of them lol.

When it's the middle of league playoffs, they have just aerated the entire course, you are playing the 9-hole side of the course that punishes your shot shape and your opponent with a 34 course handicap makes the crowd pleasing 2 for 1 on the par-3 second hole.

When you show up for a tournament wearing shorts and a polo shirt, and a few holes in the cold front that was forecast for that evening shows up early, bringing wind, rain, drastically lower temperatures, and a corresponding drop in motivation.

4. The starter is kind of a dick then you mouth off to him

6. They guys in front of you are either drunk or "soooooooooo hung....ovahhhhhhh"

7. You're walking but, you gotta take a dump and the first porta pottie is 7 holes in

8. You're playing Torrey Pines with tourists in front of you

9. You're playing Torrey Pines and the tourists in front of you are taking selfies

10. You send a ball a hair too far because you grabbed a 6 instead of 9 and maybe hit one of the tourists at Torrey Pines cart then yell, "Locals only!".

Twice this year with father and son and father says my son is trying out for the golf team. I am a 9 hc I have a better chance at qualifying for US Open than these kids do at playing competitive golf

I coach high school golf now and never tried out in high school because I figured the team had to be filled with +4 handicaps. I would have easily made the team and probably been able to play in college. Total missed opportunity on my part, but chalk it up to naïveté.

Trying to get my own game back so I can play Mid-am tournaments in the next 2 years.
