Taylormade 300 Forged

Probably beating a dead horse or living in the past, but just came across a set of 300 Forged TM. I’m old but back in the day, these were considered very good. Today, how do they compare with newer forged CBs?

Still up there performance wise. Retief Goosen won the 2001 US Open with those clubs. The only knock against them is that their grooves aren't 2010 compliant.

The TM 300s are very goods irons and match up with anything made today. All but the final model year was forged by Miura. I think Goosen won the us open with the Taylormade RAC cb tours which was also forged by Miura and has a design similar to the 300. The 300 (about $400 less) was the poor man's TM RAC cb tour.

Great irons and great feel. Cga has already highlighted groove conformity. They are also not the most forgiving.

I've wanted a set of the Lehman grinds (or really any of the "tour grinds") since they were released. One of the only iron sets on my bucket list that I've never owned. Sadly, I missed out on a set in BST a few months back that were in great condition.

I still have a set of X300 FCI 's and love them! They feel great when you hit them flush!

I gamed TM300's for 10+ years, LOVED LOVED those irons. The leading edge wasn't the best for my swing/elbow so gave serious thought to having a custom sole grind done then refinishing them but the fact the grooves aren't legal changed my mind. I still have them in the closet.

Fully agree. For me though, the problem was hitting them flush consistently enough..

X300 FCI definitely one of the most appealing sets ever.

For 99%+ of all golfers the 300 Forged irons and many older clubs are still compliant until 2024. They are only non compliant for the highest levels of the game such as professional golf and the highest level of amateur play including all USGA/RANDA events when the COC for grooves is used.

Yeah..that's what I mean...non compliant at golf's highest levels.

The Lehman grinds are nice. Great grind and that classic Miura feel. Played mine until about 4 years ago. Still have them boxed up trying to decide to either frame on the wall or sell. Even have the 2 iron.

I just bay'd my first set of these and they came in last week. Still haven't taken them out as I've been lazy working in my shop, but so looking forward to it.

I stumbled across a set of mint 300 Forged 2-PW. I think about getting them to replace my MP-32s. Any thoughts?

They are Miura forged irons but there are modern forged irons with more forgiveness.

Still have my set of 2-pw in the basement. Thought about throwing some nippons 120 in them. Can only imagine how impact would feel if flushed one with the 120.
