G/Fore Gallivanter Shoes Waterproof issues

I purchased my first G/Fore Gallivanter shoes this summer and have about 10 rounds in them. The insides were wet the last time I wore it just from morning dew. Has anyone tried waterproofing G/fore shoes? I noticed they don't have any sort of waterproof guarantee.

All leather GFore shoes carry a 1 year w/p guarantee.

Try some Red Wing leather conditioner, condition and waterproof (beeswax) at the same time

This is what a rep told me. I would call the customer service number to start a warranty claim

I contacted G/Fore and this was their reply. Note, I purchased the shoes in July from Saks Fifth Avenue. I was pretty much told to go pound sand:

Thank you for your response! Unfortunately, purchases placed through other retailers must go back to the original source. We are separate entities from Saks and cannot see orders that were purchased through them. I would recommend reaching out to their customer service team and they should be able to assist you on this.

Thank your for reply. Just to clarify based on your email, these are Gallivanters golf shoes and not gloves as you indicated. Also, these were purchased from Saks Fifth Avenue web site. What would be the correct procedure in getting these replaced? I can confirm based on email receipts these were purchased in July 2019.

First, I need to gather a bit more information. If the order was placed online, please provide your initial order details.

 

If the gloves were acquired from a retailer or golf shop, I would recommend to contact the retailer from where the item was purchased. Just as you are a customer of the retailer, they are a customer of ours. They will make things right for you on their end, and G/FORE will make things right for them on ours. This will ensure everything is done through the proper channels.

I don't know how this will ultimately end but going forward I would suggest Footjoy shoes. I've been wearing them exclusively for over 25 years and only had two issues (neither waterproof related). Both times they said send the shoes back and each time they were replaced without any drama.

G/Fore’s response is what I would’ve expected. Your contract is with the retailer not the manufacturer.

This is the waterproof "warranty" I received. Bottom line, G/Fore does not have a waterproof guarantee or warranty.

Waterproofness- Our leathers are treated to be waterproof and the shoe construction on our Gallivanter & Disruptor styles do not allow for water to invade the shoe. However, over time and depending on wear and care, we recommend treating your shoes every 6 months or as needed with a water/weather-proofing spray and using a leather conditioner.

your fight isn’t with me, you should be mad at Saks. As stated, they are the party who sold you the shoe and need to remedy the situation. They should exchange out the shoe for you as they will get a credit for the defective pair when they do an RA.

The morning dew is the toughest on shoes as the ground is wet everywhere, constantly on the shoe and at the seem where the shoe is most vulnerable. Waterproofing, conditioner, beeswax, etc will help, but ultimately water is getting in at the seem. As someone who plays before work and walks, most every shoe I've worn has failed before the warranty is up.

 

Nike TW 13, Adidas Pure 360 were both excellent

Skechers go gilf pro v3 very good

Puma Titantour ignite good

I've had shoes with 1, 2 yr. Warranties let waykter in after 1 round in the dew.

Those who wear the G4 Gallivanter shoes, how do they fit in terms of size? I’ve hear conflicting reviews, some saying they run true and others saying that you should go up 1/2 size.

I'm just making sure anyone reading this in the future doesn't misinterpret this thread and clarifying whatever this "rep" told you is not true. It may have been when you were told this but at the time of this writing, G/Fore does not have a waterproof guarantee or warranty for their shoes.

They are much smaller. Most golf shoes I wear a 12 while for Gallivanters I wear 13.

They run a bit narrow. Go up half-size if you have wider than average feet. I'm a 44 in most Eccos and 11W in Adidas . I wear a 11.5 in G4.

Agreed. They run narrow. I'm a 10.5 in Nike golf shoes. 10 in G4. I have narrow feet.

I agree. Can't fault footjoy. Some years ago I wore a pair for a whole season trying to break them in. Never got comfortable. I sent them back and they replaced them with a new pair (with a redesigned sole). First wearing they were comfy as slippers.

G/fore's 1/2 size small as others have said. I love the footbed in them, for me G4 in general are by far the most comfortable and best looking shoes out at the moment. FJ has really fallen behind in the style category (outside of custom Icons).
