mackenzie golfbags?

Recommended Posts

I've owned both Jones and now a MAC, I do believe the MAC balances much better than the Jones and that is just my 2 cents. My Jones did have 2 pockets and the MAC only has 1, that could make a difference? My take on the trestle sticks, its much easier for us with bad backs to not have to bend over and pick up a bag numerous times over 18 holes. It actually makes a noticeable difference not having to do so and they actually make for a decent walking stick.

I'd echo the thoughts on the balance of the bags between Jones and Macs. It might be the spine down the Mac, where as the Jones is unstructured, but the Mac is definitely a touch less of a burden than Jones.

I do carry my trestle sticks with my Mackenzie and use them when necessary, but sparingly. Most of the time I drop it on the ground. This winter I have actually gone to a Vessel Sunday 2.0 bag for the rounds that I know I'm going to want to keep my bag out of wet grass or mud and/or need a rain hood. It's kind of like a SUV vs. sports car for me. I'm taking the sports car out on a great day when I don't have to think about anything except the enjoyment factor. If there weather is questionable or I'm going somewhere rugged...I'm pulling the SUV out.

All this coming from a guy with 6 golf bags, so maybe I just have a problem...

Anyone who has done a custom bag instead of the build your bag on the website, how much more expensive is it to go with custom colors over what is available on the website?

I don’t think it is any extra to make your own bag as long as they have the materials.

Thanks to @simply19 for answering my questions when I sent him a DM.

So now I have new shafts coming (MMT 105s) for my Bridgestone J15cb (being rechromed at the Iron Factory), new driver Headcover (Dormie Workshop)coming - can't put them in my old golf bag - waiting now for a Mackenzie Navy Ballistic Nylon Walker to be made. Looking forward to the walk with fewer clubs.

I have one on my two pocket Walker and it is nice and works pretty well. I don’t have one on my single pocket Sunday Walker and I don’t miss it too often. Sometimes it would be nice on those really hot days but overall it’s not too hard to get by without it. Ultimately if ordering a new bag I think I’d stick with the above....getting it on a full size bag with two pockets but forgoing it on the smaller Sunday bag with only one pocket, in part because I love the streamlined look of the small single pocket bag and the bottle sleeve would take away from that a bit.

5N43QZTCRAED.jpegHere’s my latest Mac...2020 edition...I recommend getting them made with 2 “D-rings”: one at the top collar of the bag and one by the handle (they are very useful...bag tags, speakers, range finders etc). I also recommend getting the “range finder” pocket (I use mine for divot-fill...kept in a washed out seasoning salt container - An ol’ looper trick). Without a doubt, I think these are the best “premium” carry bags out there...pricey for sure...but all the custom options make ‘em truly unique and worth every penny.

IMO...when considering 7“ vs 8”, if you plan on carrying 14 clubs at any point, 8“ is preferable. As for 1 vs 2 pockets: I don’t have a 7“, 1 pocket handy at the moment but I could take a pic of two 8’s: 1 pocket ballistic vs 2 pocket canvas. All in all, of all the config’s offered, I think 8“, 1 pocket, in ballistic with custom features is the way to go: it’s most cost effective (in the Mac bag world at least), it’s 14 club friendly, and it tik’s all the fundamental carry bag boxes.

Piggy backing on @fairways_and_sneaker comment, I only carry 11 and could definitely use a 7”, but in no way regret or find an 8” too big. Overall they are a lot more compact than a standard stand bag. I do agree that if you are going 13 or 14 to stay with an 8”.

I’m sure it’s been covered in this thread already, but does anyone have any thoughts about ballistic v canvas for waterproofing/rainy rounds?

I am with Dukes, and totally torn about which way to go for my first. Seeing as how I have four kids, though, I suppose I’m aiming at four bags when it’s all said and done. Plenty of room for both fabrics! But which to get first...
