Thanks. Don't recall seeing that particular color combo but if the face is metallic (as it appears to be) it's the older, firmer insert, not the current one.

As mentioned earlier I've only seen ONE "mini" in my local PGATSS since it was re-released (6 months ago ?) with the current insert. Have to wonder why,,,,,,,

Oh, I know the difference (see previous posts).

But I also commented on how I've only seen a grand total of ONE Spider Mini with the current Surlyn insert in the stores and thought it funny that I, just last night, saw Dustin with the exact model.

Today I was on the course with my new Spider X for the first time. While the greens are horrible (5 degrees Celsius), the feel of the face is perfect. Even with the firmer Pro V1x it was a soft feel. With my old Spider Mini it was clicky. That was one reason why I played a softer ball before. Now I’m thinking about switching to the V1x. The ball decision is the last spot for my bag 2020 to decide .... ;-)

Normally I'm not much a fan of inserts cause they generally feel way too mushy and mallets I haven't found many I like looking at. But from putting with these a lot in stores I think the Spider X does a really good job at both especially with the insert feel and True-Path alignment. I'm honestly thinking about adding one too my bag or at least a very reliable back up putter.

 

Just cannot decide on the neck and color. I think the slant works better for me despite preferring face balance putters more. But I seem to de loft the single bend a ton. I do have a free putter fitting so will look at this when I'm there.

Is anyone still gaming the spider x? If so, how is it holding up? Any paint chipping or pretty durable?

I played mine all last season and it still looks new, I put my head cover on when not in use. I played the DJ black for 3 years and had no issues with that one either

I know the Spider X has issues with paint chipping which doesn't look great. Has anyone stripped the paint off a Spider X? Also how does it look?

I just ordered a custom navy x and was told the heads are on backorder. Looks like it will not ship until June

I just joined the Spider X club and have a few rounds under my belt with it. So far I really like it. I am playing around with the weights as well. Bought the 12 gram from the Taylormade site and have it in the toe. Gives a little more toe hang and overall weight is 10 grams heavier. Has anyone else played around with the weights? I also replaced the super stroke grip, they never seemed to work for me.

All the stock Spider-X putters I've seen have the same (stock) Surlyn(?) insert.

If you're referring to the different colored inserts by ordering it special via the website, THOSE inserts are metallic and do not sound or react the same.

I change putters like its my job yet I always seem to return to the Spider X, something about this putter makes me so confident. The balls rolls so well off it. 

 

Newport 2, ER5, Toulon Vegas, Ping Anser milled are all losers to my Spider. Had the Navy but sold it and bought the Navy/White which makes a big difference

I was briefly tempted by the FCG but ultimately stuck with the Spider X and it has been pretty solid for me.

Went to the Spider X Slant from the Spider X Flow and it was night and day better for me. It’s just sooo good. Made so many clutch putts drying my first round with it. 
 

BTW, long time Spider user . This is the best version so far.

My wife got me a SC Newport for my bday, but I haven't gotten along with it well. I tried my buddies' Spider X single bend on a recent golf trip and that thing was just pure. I went from 38 putts to 29 putts just moving between putters. I am going to try a couple alterations to my Scotty first, but will most likely be selling and moving to a spider x
