New oakley golf prizm

Recommended Posts

I've been wearing Golf Prizm Oakley Flak 2.0 XLs for about 4 years now. I NEVER wore golf sunglasses, but always had sensitive eyes with contacts, and someone one day made the suggestion. I've never turned back.

Have never really considered another type of lens, but seems like consensus here like the Prizm Dark Golf instead of the regular Prizm Golf?

Does Oakley ever have sales on their website or promo codes come out or can anyone recommend a place where you have purchased during an xx percent off sale that Oakley was included?

My last ones I bought from amazon but I may try out some targetline with dark golf and they seem to be the same price everywhere

I stopped by the Oakley store the other day to try on different styles so I could get some prescription sunglasses. I was looking at the Turbines. At my local optometrist and online, with the Prizm Black Polorized lenses, they were $560 all in. They were running a 25% sale at the store, and I ended up getting them for $430 all in. If you have a brick and mortar store near you, I suggest checking they’re.

The first time I went to one asking about prescriptions, I was told they didn’t do them in the store. This location (a different one than the first) had an optician on-site that did my fitting/measurements. You have to have a recent prescription, as they don’t do eye exams, but the do all of the necessary measurements.

I should have them some time early next week. People say polorized isn’t good for golf, but I’ve been wearing polorized sunglasses for years and have never had an issue. Since I fish a lot also, I wanted the polorized lenses.

I picked up my TargetLine Prizm Golf Darks for 25% at my local Oakley store over the 4th of July weekend. I had a stroke earlier in the year that caused some vision issues and light sensitivity, so I needed to start wearing some sunglasses when I'm outside for extended periods.

I absolutely LOVE these lenses. The Dark is the perfect amount of light reduction for everyday use for me, and I do feel that I see the breaks much better with these lenses. Unfortunately, I'm not sure if my improved putting since being cleared to golf again is due to these lenses, the new putter I put in play, or just the fact that I'm so happy that I'm able to be out and on the course!

Got my regular golf prizm yesterday. I 100% am going to probably want to get the golf dark... In today's bright sunny sky I could barely look around toward the sky without feeling blinded. Going to buy the golf dark (22% VLT), +red iridium (16%) and fire iridium (16%). Might be returning the regular golf prizm... They are probably only ideal in medium to lower light conditions.

I've worn the regular Prizm every day I've played since I got them and they are...fine.

But I wore the Dark Prizm last night around the yard and they definitely are a shade darker - as the name would suggest LOL. Looking forward to getting out in them this weekend.

I'm somewhat light sensitive... I have pretty bad dry eye and overall I find myself wearing shades almost anytime I am outdoors. To me... the regular golf did a GREAT job at highlighting the grass and has a wonderful contrast, but with no clouds at all in the sky and a high sun...just was too much brightness.

Ordered the dark just now on Amazon in the Flak 2.0 XL frame, and 4 sets of replacement lens direct from oakley (+red irid, fire irid, prizm shallow water polar, prizm deepwater polar). All have rose base and a <20% VLT. Keep the best and return the rest.

I have a pretty severe sensitivity to bright light, which has definitely gotten worse over the years. If I am outside on a sunny day without sunglasses, I can hardly even open my eyes, and when I do, they burn, they water, and I get a headache. I've never had a pair of the prizm lenses before, but I did have a pair of the previous generation Radars (before the radarlock) with the G30 lenses, and I ended up buying the regular black iridium polorized lenses for them because the G30 were completely useless to me.

A rose/amber base is fine for a lense, as the prizm are (even the black prizm). But, for me, rose/amber/green lenses just dont cut it. I find that I am constantly squinting. The golf specific lenses just let in entirely too much light for my eyes.

anyone try the prizm dark golf in the flak draft? Disappointed that there's no replacement lenses available; only a few styles (targetline and crossrange in addition to flak draft I think) that have the dark golf. I emailed Oakley a few weeks ago and was told there is no immediate plan to offer additional styles with prizm golf dark or to offer the lenses as a replacement lens.

curious how people are liking the dark golf vs standard prizm golf. also curious how big the flak draft is compared to regular flak jacket.

thanks

Last year I bought a pair of Flak Draft Golf. One of the selling points of the Flak Draft over the other Flak models was the ease with which lenses could be replaced. There is a little lever/button that you pull to release the lens from the frame. FRom their website "A single release trigger helps make lens changing quick and easy".

That wasn't the reason that I bought this model. I bought them because they fit me best and I liked that they fit me best of all of the Prizm Golf styles. But, it was a feature that I was happy to have. Unfortunately, I later found out that Oakley doesn't sell ANY replacement lenses that fit the Flak Draft frame. If you want to be able to replace the lens in your existing frame, you have to buy a whole new pair of glasses, not just the lens.

I would love it if Oakley were to sell a Prizm Dark Golf replacement lens for the Flak Draft. There's no reason why they couldn't as they do sell the Flak Draft with the Prizm Dark Golf lens. But, at this point, I'm certainly not holding my breath waiting for it to happen.

It looks like Oakley now offers the dark golf Flak Draft replacement lenses. I think this is a recent development though not sure exactly how recently.

Great news. Thanks.

After learning that the Prizm Dark Golf lenses are now available, I ordered a pair from Oakley. They are expected to arrive today. I'm playing tomorrow. It's supposed to be a beautiful, sunny day. So, I will try the new lenses out then.

  • 2 weeks later...

I have mixed feelings about the Prizm Dark Golf lenses vs the original Prizm Golf lenses. As a regular pair of sunglasses, I greatly prefer the dark lenses. They have a more natural tint than the original rose colored lenses, which I really prefer. I also think that they look better. However, I seem to have a more difficult time tracking the ball as it lands on longer shots. Once the ball drops below the tree line, I lose it. I never had that problem with the original lenses.

I've only worn them twice so far. Once playing a round and once on the driving range. But, I experienced the same difficulty tracking balls hit with my longer clubs when they land both times. For now, unless there is a reason why the original lenses aren't dark enough on a given day, I think that my default lenses are going to be the original Prizm Golf lenses.

If I were going to wear these glasses off of the golf course for some reason (not likely as I have multiple pairs of Maui Jim's that I typically wear), I would wear them with the Prizm Dark Golf lens.

I have Flex Spend ( use it or lose it ) cash so I'm getting a pair of RX Prism Flak Drafts... I think they may fit better than the Flax 2.0 XL due to the larger lens . The

Flak 2.0 XL Asian fit may also be a possibility . I really do have to settle on a lens and reading everyone's post I'm leaning towards the Golf Prism Dark.

Do it... I still have my Golf Dark and love it. To my eyes, the regular golf was just letting it a little bit too much light on those really sunny days. I even wear the dark on cloudy days and find that things are still bright enough to see just fine.

I was commenting on the fact that his screen shot shows that he purchased the dark replacement lenses when I was told in store on Saturday they weren't available yet (and I was therefore bummed).

However, I've not found them online for my frames (Flak 2.0) online either, so it may be an online only item for a limited number of frames for now.

so after purchasing a number of pairs of glasses from Oakley for myself and wife on black Friday it took 2 weeks for them to cancel my order in full. I called today after receiving an email that the sale crashed their servers and they oversold many items. Not a happy camper. They did extend another 50% off coupon to use at a later date though.

Did others have this experience on Black Friday sale purchases? cheers

Are the ones you bought now out of stock on the site?

Now that the Golf Prizm Dark lens has been out for a while, what is the consensus?

I have been playing golf for the last 20 years, and have NEVER been able to wear sunglasses on the course. I’ve tried many times, but have always taken them off. I just can’t get used to them. I’ve never had an actual pair of “Golf” glasses though. I’m mainly talking Ray Ban Wayfarers, as I wear them EVERY day off the course.

Im really contemplating buying a pair of the TargetLines with the Prizm Dark lenses in them.

For those that have these lenses, would you recommend them? If I buy these, they would more than likely be my every day glasses as well.

I play golf in ALL weather types.

In most conditions, I still prefer the original Prizm Golf lenses to the dark ones. If it's a REALLY bright cloudless day, I will use the dark lenses. But. that's the rare exception to the rule. With the exception of a rainy day, I like the original Prizm Golf lenses in all other conditions (including very cloudy days) as I see the ball in the air much better than without any glasses at all. If it wasn't for getting drops of rain on the lenses, I'd probably wear them on a rainy day as well.
