KBS One Step Prototype Putter Shaft

Looking for additional information on the kbs one step prototype putter shafts. I bought a TM putter from the vault and it had this shaft, but I prefer a longer putter so am wanting to buy another.

Sounds to me it's nothing more than the Stroke Lab idea of tip stability without the counterbalance effect. I'd be all for this. I love the stability of steel but I have no interest in altering the club head or butt end weight to make the SW work.

I don't know any details but my guess is that this thing is probably more stiff than C Taper 130X, with the same weight (roughly 130g) but heavily counter balanced.

Call me when LA Golf or somebody makes an extremely rigid putter shaft that weighs around 115-120g and doesn't feel like a telephone pole (i.e. has feel), otherwise I'm not super interested. The new Stability shaft Tour is mildly intriguing but for like $250, I'm not really all that interested in buying one.

Like the OP, I also have one of these shafts in a putter I bought from the TaylorMade Vault. I hated the KBS CT Putter shaft released this year because it was way too stiff, but this One Step shaft feels good. It's responsive and you get good feedback at impact. It's easily my favorite out of all of the current stability shafts on the market.

Feels like there's a bit of counterbalance, but not much. I'm playing it at the same specs as my other putters with normal shafts (same headweight, length, grip).

What's the actual weight of the shaft? I never really get along with CB'ed stuff because at the end of the day, SW is just a number. Static weight increases still affect my feels/swing more than a unit-less number on a scale. Also, how much do they cost?

i emailed KBS and they said they don’t sell that shaft but I could order a ct tour shaft. Weird

I really like the CT Tour shaft. It does make the putter feel slightly firmer but I like that feeling. Plus the finish options are great. I'm guessing this new one is just in testing right now.

KBS confirmed this stability shaft is releasing in 2020. Any loss of performance if I extended the 35” on I have to 38”?

Just got this shaft with my vault putter as well (berwick patina) it feels SUPER stable, almost like the putter won’t ever twist. Putting it head to head with a couple of odyssey putters for a bag spot. Would love to try this shaft in a blade putter tho.

Steel for sure, I just think that the handle (fat part) probably allows for some more stiffness, and the “one step” probably has some science to it. Very unique, and from my very limited practice with it, even if I miss the putts all stop in the exact same spot. I don’t think I’ve ever had a putter this consistent, could just be the weight or whatever tho.

Anybody used both CT One Step and Stability Tour ? Comparison ?

I have been using the BGT Stability Tour shaft for about a year now paired up with an Odyssey O-Works Black #7 head and a Super Stroke Traxion 3.0 grip with a 75 gram Counter Core weight installed.  I also have different Odyssey sole weights that I switch in and out depending on green speeds.  I love the extra weight under my hands.  Combined with a left hand low grip it really keeps my hands quiet and helps to prevent flipping of the wrists.  Great distance control too.    It has been a great combination for me and it shows in my putting statistics.

 

This past week my golf bag fell off of the cart as we left the clubhouse and the bag fell on the concrete.  Unfortunately the Stability shaft snapped due to the impact.  

 

I have already ordered two more Stability Tour shafts from Breakthrough Golf Technology and another Odyssey O-works black #7 from Ebay to repair my putter and to ensure that I will always have an identical back-up just in case.  That should tell you how much confidence I have in it.

 

If the KBS One Step is able to equal that type of performance at a much lower cost it will get a great reception in the market.

 

I‘ve been playing KBS shafts in my irons and wedges for the past five years.  

 

The KBS One Step is intriguing for sure.

Can anyone measure the length of tip to step, if they own 1 that was oem installed? I am wondering if the oem's are tip trimming these or installing straight in and butt trimming only? I have one sitting here to install in a putter but haven't cut it yet, trying to decide what my best option is.
