I have the v-steel in 13⁰, 15⁰, 16.5 and 18⁰. The tour spoon is magic off the deck (decent lie) and straight + looong off the tee-box (gotta use a very low tee for this badboy). The 18⁰ is superb off the fairway. The 15⁰ and 16.5 are currently spares. I have a collection of drivers and woods that are sitting in the spare room coz I can't kick the vsteels out of the bag. Other players smirk when I tell em that these clubs are almost 20 yrs old and then afterwards I just keep a straight face when my shot goes down the line while they spray with their 'latest and greatest'. Long live the v-steel!!!

What the the TS mean? Just picked one up on eBay after playing one in high school from 2003-2007. I keep seeing “tour spoon” but I don’t known what that means.

Tour Spoon meant loft. Probably 13 degrees.

It does indeed mean "Tour Spoon", which is a strong lofted 3-wood that is a referencing the old Scottish nickname for a 3-wood which was simply "Spoon", right after the "Brassie".

Many thanks. Any shaft suggestions? I play a HZRDUS smoke 6.0 70 in the driver. Project x 6.5 hardstepped once in the irons.

My yearly v steel 5 wood update. Still using the same stock shaft and same slick grip. Had about 210 today for a 2nd shot into a par 5. Nice mid flight with a tight draw and almost dunked it in the hole, proceeded to make eagle putt. Thank you V steel.

I would go with a heavier shaft one the 80 gram range and play it at 42-42.5” it should balance out worth the heavier shaft. Go with a more mid launch shaft. The one I have has some old TMade TP shaft in it. I found it on clearance for $20 at Golfsmith years ago. It’s a paint break tour issue and they didn’t know haha. Maybe a Blueboard type shaft if that fits your swing type. If it’s not a tour issue it’s a .350 hosel FYI.

Thanks. Went with the Pros X even flow blue, 6.0 70 gram. tipped half inch on both ends....so far so good. first round tomorrow.

Loved my 3 wood and not sure why I got rid of it. Can't find another 3 wood I can hit as consistently and often don't bother carrying a 3 wood anymore

Years ago I had a 15* with a GD YS6+ shaft. Probably the best single club I've ever had. 250+ carry when teed up, 230 carry off the deck. I reached par 5s I would never have gone after prior to this club, and used it so much off the tee I was tempted to put away the driver for an extra wedge.

When Cleveland came out the with original Launcher hybrids, I hit the 18* (might have been a 19*) so well that I added a 16* that replaced the Vsteel. Lent the Vsteel to a friend, who quickly put a few dents in the crown and ruined the club. I might still be using it if I hadn't done that.

I get so excited every time this thread pops up on my feed. This thing is going on almost 10 years old now. The v steels weren’t exactly new when I started this thread either. Been thinking of picking up a 7 wood to go along with my baffler. V steel magic!

Yes. This thread is the reason why why I bought my Vsteels used from Craigslist 5 years ago (at $20 CDN each) and are now my gamers till this day.

My father-in-law had a buddy that was selling me a pretty much brand new bag out of his warehouse for cheap. He had a whole other bag full of older clubs and said grab whatever you want out of it. Left that deal with a new bag and 3 gently used V-Steels. Thank you very much.

Got a 3 wood and 5 wood sitting in the closet. This thread has got me itch'n to get them out and see if they have any magic. Didn't when I was using them. Maybe they are like a fine wine and need time to age.....

I just got my 7 wood in the mail yesterday, which is what brought me to this thread. It’s got the original DG Lite steel shaft. I’m thinking about an Aldila NVS 75 or 85 to replace it.

When the rumors of a new v-steel where bubbling, I was interested. After seeing them, I am not impressed. I thought the sole would be deeper.

Late to this party, but the party seems to go on and on! I've had a VS T/S, 3-wood, and 5-wood, but had a problem with the 5-wood: it's too long! It's the hammer of Thor and goes farther than most 3-woods. So, I just picked up a sky-marked 7-wood at PIAS for 17 bucks. It's a bit scarred but seems to be fine. The 3-wood and the 7-wood should be fine for the shorter-course, abbreviated bag (ten clubs) I generally carry.

I have a v-steel 7wood. It has a regular flex stock shaft (which I know everyone loathes, but I couldn't care less as I adore it). When I hit shots with it and watch the ball soaring in the distance, I can't help but feel I've been gifted an insight into what Francis Scott Key might've seen that fateful night.

I stopped by my local golf shop last night to find a new graphite shaft to replace the steel one in my 7 wood. He had a Fujikura Pro 70 and a UST V2 66 gram that both would have worked. I ended up with the Fujikura for a little bit of extra weight, but now I'm out another $10 :)

I've got 2 of the 3 woods... will be grabbing a 5 and a 7 from my local shop next time I'm in there... will be primarily for the backup bag... but they're still great

Ahh the VSteel. So many fond memories of my 3w and 5w. Hard to believe it's been 17 years since that 3w was first shafted up for me.

Guys, forgive me but I have read dozens of threads and still have a question.....are all "paint break" v steels tour issue? Also are they all .335 hossel size? There is one I am looking at that definitely has the paint break but an R flex shaft. Obviously it could have been reshafted at some point but just wanted to see if it was indeed a tour head. Thanks!

Just picked up a paint break in great shape with an X100! I haven't played steel in a fairway but I am going to give it a shot before I decide if I want to swap it out.
