Did USPS Raise Shipping Rates Again 2020

shipped a putter from Ohio to Az which normally $16 and some change for priority I shipped one few weeks ago , yesterday it was $19.80? Normally same box would be $19.08 when I ship same size box and similar weight to California. Anyone else know an increase since shipping in 2020 with usps

I work in the mail industry, and new rates go into effect Jan. 26, so not sure why yours was more unless it weighed more than the last time. The size of the box is only part of the equation.

idk I use similar boxes and would have been no difference weight wise but did go to a different post office then mine and they always for some reason have a difficult time there putting in measurements one lady can’t even do it at all. Thanks for the confirmation on the price increase coming. Now it will be instead of add $5 west of Mississippi have to add $10 lol

You can print labels directly from eBay, PayPal or even USPS.

This isn't a big deal at all. A 4.1% increase for Priority Mail is only about another $1 on most golf packages assuming their pricing formula stays the same. I use USPS for most all single clubs in the smallest boxes possible (cut down to size) and FedEx Ground for all iron sets and I've been able to keep prices between $10-$25 at the most for cross-country shipping.

 

Is USPS Parcel Select still the cheapest option for shipping bags cross-country? How much is it? I notice you can't purchase this service online so you have to go to the PO? I found some online quotes comparing USPS Priority or Retail Ground Select and FedEx Ground and prices were ridiculous something like $60-$75 for shipping an empty golf bag with 7lbs shipping weight. I think I remember selling a PING Hoofer once over 10 years ago using Parcel Post/Select it was only around $20 and I don't remember how far it was going. I know Parcel is 10+ days but totally reasonable considering it's way cheaper.

USPS now uses DIM weighting, which is why bags have shot up in price to ship. I have a few bags that I have sent and people have paid the charge. Others have given me hell over the pricing, but it's USPS's pricing not mine. I would use UPS Ground, but for some reason the pricing that gets charged on eBay (calculated) is always less than what I am charged when I purchase the label on the UPS website. It just makes me mad enough to not use them, even though it's only $5-7 each time.

If your using UPS, just go directly to their website and either set up an account or sign in as a guest. You can use the promo code "EASY" on anything you ship and it gives a pretty decent discount. They even advertise it on the website, and with the discount they are usually cheaper than USPS priority.

Thanks, I do have an account set up with them. Maybe not using any code wasn't giving a deep enough discount. I'll try that with a package someone already bought and see if it adjusts the rate low enough.
