FAKE PXG 0311T milled wedges

Another in the series of fake PXG clubs..........

 

This time it's the PXG milled wedges, 0311T

 

These are very expensive wedges and so if you are interested in buying one off Ebay or BST it is important to know if the one you are buying is the real deal! Remember the fakes are cast and not milled.

 

1. First check for a serial number. Many fake PXG irons and wedges will not have a S/N.

2. Next check the location of the various lettering on the back of head.

 

a. First up the "Darkness" 0311T wedge.

i. Notice the tip of the "26 logo" triangle is nearer the G in PXG than the D in Darkness in the real wedge. The fake has the tip near the D.

ii. Next check the nearness of the P in PXG to the 3rd screw. The real wedge has a good amount of space between them....the fake is very close.

 

b. Next the Sugar Daddy 0311T wedge.

i. Again check the space between the P and 3rd screw...the fake has these very close together.

iI. Check the location of the D in milled compared to the upper D in Daddy. The Fake has the D pretty much right under the D in Daddy. The Real wedge has the D much more aligned to the left of the D in Daddy.

 

 

Of course these Fakes can be purchased off AliExpress and that is the problem as they then get resold as "real" on Ebay, etc.

Also looks like the weight screws along the sole are 1. not as big a screw, so the spacing on the fake is not as tight as the original. And 2. since the screws are not as big, the spacing along the sole if not too far. On the originals the last screw is well under the loft number. In the fakes it just at the beginning of the loft number. Those are bad fakes. But you really have to know what you are looking for.

It's worth noting that the real PXG wedges have slightly different text/logo positions on different lofts - eg. Darkness 55 and 60 are the triangle is more in the middle of the G of PXG and D of Darkness, whereas it's definitely closer to the G in the 55.

I've attached some photos below of a 60 that I bought that illustrates this. Confirmed genuine by PXG.
