2020 Callaway Mavrik drivers, fairway woods, hybrids (in-hand pics)

FYI Callaway has often times done a 50% trade in bonus for all of their new lineups, I have done it the last 2 years and it's been a pretty painless option.

I did it for Rogue and I agree plus values were a little better than GG/Dicks. Global Golf and 3balls are my go to as they usually do an enhancement as well but I’m not sure when they will happen. Would love to be able to see the Mavrik and SIM heads in person before trading in a bunch of gear.

Yeah agreed. Usually I will do a fitting for Callaway and TM and decide from there. Pretty sure both places offer a trade in bonus so I go with whichever I like best.

They will honor 150% on the most expensive club you are trading in and that's it. One club gets the 150%, the rest get no bonus.

Has anyone had a chance to hit both the MAVRIK (regular and SZ) and also SIM (and Max) fairways and compare how they feel and how the numbers compare across the 2 lines...I have seen a few driver comparisons, but have yet to see anyone compare the fairways. Thanks.

That was the case for me in an indoor demo of the two different clubs. The standard was as forgiving as any fairway I've tried and the SZ was decidedly unforgiving for me. Matched up very favorably vs the Epic Flash 3 wood I currently have in terms of how consistent ball flight was. I like the looks and the feel.

I'm a little surprised that the fairway wood and hybrid is not coming out with an adjustable hosel to retail. If you look at Aaron Wise's tour bag photos is appears they have them for tour issue. I would assume that is a factor of the design to optimize the CG, but I will say that may be a miss from a consumer/fitting perspective. You're at the mercy of the manufaturing quality control to make sure the face is square and the loft angles are stated. I'm interested to see how they hit it, maybe it will perform so well, i won't give a heck about the hosel and will buy them on the spot.

I tried the Mavrik sz 3 wood and I liked the look at address feel with rogue white x stiff was good and could hit it off the deck even with a 13.5 pretty well. Now I might be crazy and if someone else mentioned this I’m sorry but I swore it whistled on the downswing. Is this on purpose to go with the airflow

Anyone have the lie angles of the sz fairways? Didn’t see them on Callaway’s site. Hopefully they are still flat in comparison to the regular model.

I love Callaway drivers, just not sure about the color scheme. However, colors be damned if I can hit more fairways. Looking forward to hitting this.

Are we thinking the Maverik SZ is less forgiving than the Titleist TS3?

TS3 or TS4, not sure that’s a fair comparison. TS3 with the weight always in the back should be comparable to the SZ with heavy weight in the back. You just can’t change the CG location with the SZ like you can on TS3. TS4 closer but unchangeable. I think overall the SZ is touted as being high MOI with low spin.

That’s what’s confusing me. Some people are saying how unforgiving SZ is, but it seems like MOI was improved. I just used TS3 as a market, because I use it....

MOI was not improved, but they are claiming that MOI isn't everything and for that reason they are saying it is more forgiving than the Epic Flash line

Maybe for you, but i completely disagree... have you hit them both yet? SIM for me preformed worse than my EF SZ while Mavrik SZ was 4 mph faster. Looks, sound, and feel aren't even close between the two.

I don't think this year is going to have a "clear winner", i think each individual golfer will have a "clear winner". The SIM and SIM Max didn't work well for my swing, Mavrik SZ was incredible. Doesn't mean I think the Mavrik SZ is a clear winner for everyone.
