Hybrid shaft profile help

Looking for suggestions for a hybrid shaft with a soft butt, but not a super stiff tip - something mid launching.

Does the kuro kage silver (R flex 70g) fit this profile? I have gotten conflicting info on its profile.

So I guess I’m looking for a hybrid shaft with the blue profile. Any suggestions on how to discover these? I have found that my swing doesn’t like shafts with stiff handles. The graphite design website gives info on relative zone stiffness (butt, mid, tip) - is there a source that gives this kind of info for other shafts?

I’d disagree though. Imo blue profiles are stiff in the butt. Have you tried an Atmos Blue or a Tensei White?

The DI is mid soft like a Blue, but the butt is much softer. Look into an Oban Revenge hybrid too.

The Pro Blues don't feel that butt stiff to me so it could work. Might want to think about playing a stiff tho, I think they play soft to flex

Kuro Kage Black hybrid or Aldila Rogue Black hybrid. Both good, both can be had for cheap.

I don't have much data from Tom's DB on hybrid shafts, but just from my own personal experience, it doesn't feel softer in the butt compared to any of the other aldila blue profiles (tour blue, rogue black, vs-proto, etc..). Pretty similar in fact. And that's consistent with the data I've seen for the wood shaft models. If you're looking for a softer butt, Diamana's is a more likely candidate than the Aldila's but even then the difference isn't all that noticable to me in the hybrids. Much less noticable for me then when comparing wood shafts of those models.

 

Just be carefull about making assumptions. Most of the feel that most associate with the butt actually comes from a combination of both the butt and mid section.

Thanks - not looking for perfection or an exact profile match, just trying to avoid a shaft like the proforce v2 HL with its stiff butt and soft tip. When I replaced the v2 HL in my 3 wood with a matrix speed rulz the difference in feel and performance was shocking to me. So I want to try a different shaft in my 3 hybrid just for fun. The statement about the midsection was informative and interesting- thanks for the knowledge

The S+ 70 was the softest feeling shaft I ever had. Granted...70g is too low of weight for me and it was a lower flex, just overall the profile felt very active.

What you're asking for though... I don't think it really exists because there needs to be some stability still. A softer handle with a softer tip means the mid has to get pretty stiff but... if the mid is stiff, the slower/less aggressive players will have trouble loading it and won't like (most likely) how that feels. The "traditional" mid to higher launching feel shafts are mid-ish stiffness in the tip, softer middles and stiff handles. Some of the "blue" profiles even have fairly stiff tips, like Tensei Pro Blue.

If you're willing to and able to play 80g hybrid shafts I think there will be a lot more options for you. At 70g I'm not even sure what to suggest.

I don't know anything about the V2 HL unfortunately. What have you swung in a hybrid that felt right or worked well?

in terms of fitting, shaft weight is most important to me - currently fine tuning. My favorite wood shaft of all time is the unpopular Matrix Speed Rulz A, which, according to their website, is mid launch and for smooth transition, slower swingers. It shows an ei profile that has a spike in stiffness near the midsection. I figure approximately the same profile in a hybrid shaft with the weight I want might be worth a try.

The SpeedRulz A actually has a very similar profile to the Aldila Green/Silver shafts so you could try one of the Green/Silver hybrids.

You should see if you can swing a KK hybrid or a 70-80 gram Tensei Blue and if they don't work look for a Revenge

I looked up the KK hybrid shafts for sale - there is a KK silver hybrid that is listed at 70g and mid-launch and a KK black TiNi at 67 g and mid/high launch. Any comment or comparison of these 2 would be appreciated. Thanks

It's possible either work. I meant the silver -- the one painted like the dual core. You have to understand finding the right hybrid shaft is like hunting unicorns. There isn't much data on them. The best thing you can do is go to a store with a big used section or a few fitting carts and swing some shafts like the Tensei Pro Blue and the KK. The worse case is you don't like them but there isn't much left to discuss.I don't think those shafts are light enough anyway
