Callaway Mavrik, Mavrik Max, Mavrik Pro irons (in-hand photos)

Very little in the way of nod to the Rogue irons they apparently replace. The back of the head certainly looks better than the Rogue but the offset is quite severe.

Mavrik Pro has more offset than the Apex Pro, but less than the Apex CF according to the website specs. Not sure on length heel to toe, so looking forward to some heel to toe picture comparisons. Mavrik Pro is obviously not forged as well.

I'm interested in checking out the Mavrik Pro - specs are in my wheelhouse, but the name.. wonder if it's a tie in with Top Gun 2 coming out this summer. Hate the name but if they work well I could get past it.

so I’ve recently been for a driver fitting, my driver of choice is the SIM with gd ad vr 7s shaft! Just really worked for me!

However whilst at the fitting one iron caught my eye? The Mavrik Pro!!! It looks like a very nice players distance iron and whilst it isn’t forged and so not considered a premium players distance iron I’m keen to give it a go!

has anyone else hit them? What were your thoughts, I’m gaming the new cobra forged tec at present with money taper 120’s, but I’m finding them hard going on off centre hits......I’d love to know how the Mavrik pro compare to this and the p790?

is there anything else in this category I’m missing, don’t like i500’s (they just don’t suit my eye).

I have never played callaway irons, but there is something I kinda like about these, looks like a very decent price also, would absolutely like to hit them.

Not had a chance to test them yet, but if they are as good as the rogue pro irons were they will be a great iron. Rogue pros just didn't feel or sound quite as nice as I hope the Mav Pro does.

Hit these today. Look great, feel great, very solid dispersion.

ONLY concern was I picked up the Apex Pro and immediately added 2000 rpm of spin and into a perfect window. The spin was low (for my swing) for some reason on the Mavrik Pro

I hit a demo 7 iron yesterday on the simulator was really impressed and really enjoyed the elevate 105 shafts. I was expecting looks and feel to be lacking but I was amazed that not only does the 7 iron look better than the apex (size, offset and bladelength) but the feel is miles better as well. Not just good feel but they felt awesome! They really nailed it!! More of a chrome finish on the face but still looked classy. I do need to see the 4/5/6 irons because sometimes that is where things get ugly offset wise. Will see

I imagine the ~3* stronger lofts in the Mavrik Pro had something to do with that.

Demoed the Pro with Elevate 105 last weekend and immediately purchased. Same loft specs at the standard Apex (non Pro) fit my game totally. Great flight and feel, it’s not forged but you can’t tell, the microspheres must do the job!

 

The shorter irons look really good too - I'll get mine on launch day here in the UK so will post up pics if no one else has yet of the short irons.

i am not sure what it is about these that has me intrigued, simple looking iron. I have 2 identical sets of 919T, kind thinking of grabbing something with a little more help as a second set, little variety.

The Mav Pro should have came with the Elevate Tour shafts. So many Elevate shafts now with Callaway...Elevate 95 in the Apex, Elevate 105 in the Mav Pro, and Elevate Tour (115) in the Apex Pro but can also be ordered in the Apex.

I feel like we have not mentioned the offset just yet? Anyway i am between the reg apex and mavrik pro when i get my fitting this spring. If theyre too similar might come down to just pricing which the mavriks are cheaper. Its not about being cheap its about what clubs can afford you more beers to drink right?

Very intriguing! My only beef with the Apex is that you can see the back of the perimeter weighting in the 4 iron at address. Is this the same with the Mavrik pro?

I think you really have to see them in person and compare them to something like an Apex Pro Tob get a good sense of the top line. They aren't as think. But, they're not huge. They're a lot closer when you hold them in hand. Surprisingly, the offset is very similar as well. I want to say that in the mid irons, they're identical to Apex Pro.

I really like the overall package of the Mavrik Pro. In terms of players distance irons, these are a lot closer to the "players" category than any others in my mind.

In terms of playability, these are long. Like crazy long. I got a 4-PW set but had to get the set AW to gap these out better. I'll go 5-AW and probably still be able to cover a greater overall distance. They feel great to me. The suspended tungsten weight give them a solid feel. They're not forged and don't really feel that way. But, they're pretty solid. Best part is they're very forgiving slightly toe side which is my miss.

Then, I'll go with an Epic Forged 4 iron as a UT option with a KBS Prototype shaft. That thing deserves it's own discussion though. It's a rocket launcher.

Thanks and that’s exactly what I wanted to see! All face at address. Actually hit the demo 7 against my apex this morning and was very impressed with looks and feel. Easily game these!
