Anyone stayed/played at the JW Marriott in Scottsdale?

Planning to stay there 3 nights in late March. May play the course there one day since it’s right there. Anyone stayed at the JW or played the course? Curious to hear feedback on both.

I’ll assume that you’re talking about Camelback since it is the one technically in Scottsdale. There’s a bunch of posts here on Ambiente which is their better course. Padre is basic, not great but not terrible. Ambiente is above average to me but many here like it more.

The resort is nice but not right beside the courses.

 

If you’re talking about Desert Ridge then it is technically in PHX but both of their course are on par with Ambiente to me (remember, I don’t like Ambiente as much as others). The resort is nice. It is where most of the people that went to my wedding stayed and, as someone with mostly extremely spoiled friends, that’s a great sign.

I have not stayed at the Desert Ridge JW but have played both of the courses a few times. Enjoyed both.

Have stayed and played there. If your expectations are in line you'll be OK. Pretty much typical resort courses. But it's golf in January.

Both courses are top notch, but overpriced. Weekday mornings will set you back $209. Don't know what discount you get for being a resort guest, but I assume it's still expensive. Definitely better high end courses in the area.

The resort is nice, has a little more of a family vibe than some, good in-resort restaurants. The courses are decent, perhaps a little overpriced. I much prefer the Faldo course to the Palmer.

$209 is overpriced? That seems like a bargain compared to most stuff I see.....Troon North is over $300, TPC stadium is $350ish, hell even We Ko Pa is $265.

Can you even play a decent course for less than $200 in peak time?

Both Wildfire courses are nowhere near the caliber of the other courses you mention. If you want a top course at a decent price, head to Southern Dunes in Maricopa.

the lpga plays on the back 9 of each course sometime in March. The front 9s should stay open to public. Faldo has too many bunkers for the resort clientele imho. I live close to wildfire and rarely play them. Decent but overpriced resort courses that are a pain to walk.

Desert Ridge is nice....the pool area is good, service is good and I can't remember anyone saying they don't like it there....actually we sometimes do a staycation there.....I like the Palmer course quite a bit with maybe 1 or 2 exceptions hole-wise. I've only played Faldo once and I can't remember much about it as it was years ago. I believe you get to use the range for free if you are staying at the resort and the range is quite nice.

I would add that although the vibe is family friendly, they do a good job with separating pools so there are kids/adult areas.
