Post round interview was good. You can tell the last few weeks have weighed heavily on him. Takes a lot of guts to even tee it up, let alone win and address the situation on camera. If John Daly can get a pass for all he's done, Gainey is going to be okay.

It was nice to see TG win the tournament. Three years ago he shot opening rounds of 87 and 84, and now he is hoisting the trophy. Props to him for hanging in there.

Can't really generate any excitement for the win, but I didn't really care if he won before. Not sure about any courage involved, but he shot the lowest score, probably nice to get away. Big accomplishment for a guy at his age, and with all the injuries he went on about in the interview when asked what the win meant to him and his family (Golf Channel studio guy, the interview just after the win on site was a little better). The real challenges are back home and off the course - I would like to see him face those and if he comes through having done his best, good for him.

 

Lots of good potential stories down that leaderboard, will be looking forward to some of those guys having some success this season.

 

Tour stops at the GFE Open, just give the guy the trophy.

Okay I’ll post my actual thoughts rather than my many failed attempts at cheap humor.

I’m happy for Tommy and feel for him and his family. Situations like this can tear apart families and often times do tear them apart. If I were in Tommy’s shoes I likely would have wanted to crawl into a dark hole and never leave again. The level of humiliation to him and his family must be a heavy heavy burden.

To win this tournament is impressive given his circumstances.

The guy made a mistake and it could end up costing him a lot of pain and suffering. I’m no angel and we all have our own burdens to bear.

Im glad I’m not in the public eye and I hope all the best for Tommy and his family.

But, he didn't kill anyone. He enjoys $ex and he got busted. Maybe he's not humiliated. Americans are very uptight about this activity.

Surely his wife is not happy, though. They'll work it out, or not. Life goes on.

Yeah us in the states do seem to be uptight about it - for that reason I’m assuming his family is struggling at the moment. That’s a big assumption on my part. Maybe it isn’t as bad as I think. He wanted to have his shaft worked on and maybe his old lady is okay with that.

At the end of the day I hope the best for him and his family because that’s just what I want. I don’t wish any Ill will on the guy because I wouldn’t want to have Ill will placed upon me for my own mistakes in life.

Defense lawyers around the country should just stand up in front of judges and say “your honor, my client didn’t kill anyone”, no matter what the charges are. It’s a solid, air tight defense.
