MD/DC/VA Golfers - Twelve Monkeys Mental Divergence

Fabb. My understanding on the Kang situation is that the official left it up to Kang to determine where he should drop due to the discrepancy. In that situation they also supposedly confirmed on the shot-link (or whatever) that his ball never got close to dry land. Still comes down to integrity, and there will always be those that don't have any. Personally, I wouldn't be able to sleep at night, but I guess some folks can. With warm regards.

Siegel's Tubby's apparel purchase just went way up in value. The eBay listing reads: "Iconic Tubby's hat. New (other). Worn for literally 20 seconds. Could not fit on my Neanderthal width noggin, even on the longest nub. Worn for one picture, then been riding in my trunk for 4 months. $10 OBO."

Everyone better get ready to see this pic every time I want to type from my phone, because it's not going away from my Drafts post post. Tiny hat notwithstanding, at least Siegel is easy on the eyes.

And now, I've totally forgotten what I wanted to say.

Wonder if this pic disappears if I try to quote this post or if the WRX universe will collapse in on itself and we time travel back to when it was actually a functioning, fun place to be.

Edit: no it does not.

NonGolfTalk Monday:

What does Siegel keep hidden in his Tubby's hat?

7PPA968N36FM.jpgAt first I thought, well, that's just the camera angle, but its face on. Then I thought maybe his ear was tucked in, but no, you can see it. So either he's got something tucked in there or its a cranial deformity.

I'll guess chewing tobacco pouch.

Please don't let it be a cranial deformity.

Also, you know how you should check the bathrooms to see how clean a restaurant keep its kitchen. You guys see the layer of dust on that chair rail moulding!

Capitol Cup Singles Record: Undefeated.
Suck it, Ceejay.

They were both pretty hard from what I can remember last year when we played both courses down there. The reviews of the lodging at the facility and supporting evidence are cringe worthy, but that's just for passing out each night. The driving range is so big it's hard to describe. At least 10 football fields? Plus a 22K sq ft putting green. Our only dilemna is where the heck to watch the Super Bowl sunday night.

Really tried to make it through Once Upon a Time in Hollywood last night but could not do it. First 45 minutes or so I thought were just dragging on and on and on - then I realized there were two hours left in it. Woof. Wife liked it though and I'm glad it was only $5 on demand. The ties to some of the historical figures was cool but I've definitely not been a Tarantino mark in the last 10-15 years or so. This is definitely one of those movies that wins a ton of awards during award season that I did not "get". Nope.

The camera work was just A+. The "content" I think got on my nerves towards the end of the series but thats just me, I loved the rest of it. Last week I emailed the same company we used for Scotland to ask about doing an Ireland trip. The biggest challenge - well I guess its the same in Scotland - is cutting the courses down to the 7 or 8 that you want to play. That and finding people who can commit time and money 18 months ahead of time. But there are just so many amazing courses just in SW Ireland that you couldn't even remotely come close to doing them all in one trip.

They've been a bit all over with Tourist Sauce, in terms of where they focus the content.

This season, they really seemed to gloss over the golf. Lots of montages of random golf shots set to music, with no context. I think the best season they did in this regard was Scotland, with the tilt game they played. The knockout thing in the California season was pretty good, too.

They spent A LOT of time on showing pretty footage, with commentary from the guys, Tron in particular, about the courses. Every hole was "honestly one of the best holes we played the entire trip." I don't care for their increasing lean towards golf course architecture. "It felt like a course in central England." Whatever, dude. I'm glad you've played golf in central England, so that you can share that absolute gem of information with us. Not.

I like when the cover the "trip" aspect of things. The golf games they play. The birdies that matter for something, and the humorous times when somebody goes way off course. Big Randy being dead to the world the morning they woke up in the middle of the night to try the Old Course lottery. The trials and tribulations of the RV in California. Neil getting totally whacked and dancing the night away in one of the Ireland episodes. I think that's where they shine.

Strapped is my favorite "series" that the NLU guys do. Cool to see hidden gems in unpopular places and all the dynamics of trying to squeeze that much golf/food/lodging into the timeframe and budget. Neil and Randy have the best shelf appeal for me plus anything that doesn't include Tron gets an automatic bump.

I've heard the same, that would probably be my recommendation at this point.

I played Mayakoba a few times on my honeymoon in Riveria Maya. Probably the best course I've ever played.

Also got accosted at the airport by someone handing out vouchers for free golf at a Nicklaus course. Called ahead and was assured it was legit. Showed up early in the morning and they shepard us over to a time share presentation that lasted a good 2-3 hours. They really put on a hard sell, starting with $500,000 options but went lower and lower every time we said no. By the end they were basically offering free time-shares. Still said no, we're just here for the fee golf, and the guy says "oh you'll love it. The best 9 hole course in the area!" Practically spent an entire day of our honeymoon to play 9 holes of golf for free. It was a nice a 9 holes though.
