TV coverage of LPGA Tournament Of Champions should try showing some golf

This morning when I checked my TV listings it said the LPGA Tournament of Champions would be on NBC. My priority has been the AFC championship game but I have been continuously switching between the two. I would guess 80% of the times I have gone to NBC it has been commercial breaks. How could any viewer stay with the coverage of any product with such limited coverage? If this is NBC's model plan for golf coverage this year I will stick with CBS!

TV golf is terrible because of the grossly excessive commercials which is why I don't watch anything but the majors. Problem solved.

I think they had dirty power at this venue resulting in poor transmission.

 

Dirty power is an irregularity (voltage/ frequency variations and power surges) in the local grid.

It takes a lot of commercials to pay the rights fees the tours receive. $400 million per year to the PGA Tour for example. And next year it goes to $700 million, so get ready for even more commercials.

I didn't feel NBC runs unusual amount of commercial for this tournament. However, my suggestion is less coverage on the amateurs. I understand they are celebrities, but I tuned in to watch LPGA.

I watch online channels which are streamed from something else than Golf Channel or NBC Golf. Not 100% sure whether you can easily find LPGA and PGA Tours on those channels (the tournaments tend to occur in the middle of night here) but plenty of European and Asian Tour events can be viewed with hardly any commercials.

This is getting a bit of a nuisance, though, as the streaming sites tend to push really annoying and intrusive ads. Those can be blocked with pop-up and ad blockers but so many viewers are doing that so now the sites are asking for donations instead of relying on ads. I wouldn't mind doing that but I don't trust those companies to handle credit card details properly, and I am probably banned for life from PayPal (which is evil anyway). Plus, quite often the streams terminate when the time slot is up even if the tournament itself is still going on - and nothing sucks like buffering starting just when a tee short on a par3 is heading straight towards the pin.
