Gapr Lifecycle Over

This morning I had a custom order for a GAPR mid from TGW.com kicked back from TM without any kind of explanation.

I went to the TM custom shop on their website, and the GAPR still shows as a model to customize, but when you attempt to move past that screen, nothing is available to select.

I emailed TM to find out what was going on and a rep just replied back that the GAPR lifecycle is over, and is being removed from the custom shop.

Any indications as to what the next generation of hybrid-esque driving irons will be? The inlaws told me to pick any club I wanted under $300, and that was going to be it, as it's the only need in my bag.

I hit the GAPR mid far better than the Titleist 510. It just suited my eye a bit more.

I haven't seen anything new in that category from TM, but I figured the experts here may have some more intel.

That was a quick life cycle, even for TaylorMade, but it's more likely that they are coming out with something new than abandoning that category altogether. I found the GAPRs to be outstanding clubs, but just fugly and a little overpriced. But feel and performance were excellent. I agree about the U-510 (although I'm loving the U-500).

GAPRs seem to be making a resurgence on eBay. I'm trying to get my hands on one, and the prices are staying pretty high. Not a single on on the Classified Forum, which leads me to believe they're in a lot of people's bags and not leaving.

There are tons of demo Gapr available in Canada. I tried out a Gapr Mid and it was a nice club. Probably went a bit too far if anything. Ugly as all hell though.

Like @balls_deep said there are a ton of GAPR clubs at all the golf stores up in Canada, they just don't sell up here and kinda never did. I remember seeing them go on sale pretty fast once they were brought in.

Hardly fast. They launched in like June of 2018, been out for 18 months. In Taylormade years that is just as long as they keep P-series irons or wedges.

It's not leaving my bag that's for sure. When the hole calls for 220-230 off the tee GAPR mid 3 is money in the bank.

You hear a lot about the low and mid. I’ve put the GAPR 4 Hi in my bag and I don’t like hybrids. It plays like a cross between a 3 iron and my old Callaway Apex hybrid (2015) and I can’t believe how easy it is to hit straight, how far it goes and how you get 90 percent of the center strike yardage on substantial mishits. Consistent carry of 205 and I was looking for a club that, if I had to carry a shot 200 yards over a pond to a green, what would I go with? I also really like the KBS TGI shaft. Very versatile, well designed club. I don’t even find it ugly anymore.

I’ve had the GAPR Hi 4 in my bag since it was introduced. I really enjoyed this club it’s not going anywhere. I personally think it’s a good looking club, perfect shape and I like the unique green color. BB

I have 3 of the GAPR Hi, bought them the day they hit the stores.

As soon as I saw them I said “Adams”. And they are very good hybrids, among the best I have played.

Since hybrids came out I have had some in my bag.

@Sons, appreciated, but I'm more in the market for a 5-Mid, maybe also a 4-High. I feel like Dana Quigley, the hybrids creep into my bag more every year.

These really do not play like hybrids to me but more like an easy-launching fat iron with speed across the face. Compared to something like an F9 Speedback, which is quite the chunky iron, I prefer the GAPR.

The GAPR Hi 4 is my DI and long hybrid. Clearly not as long as a standard 2 or 3 DI off the tee, but the small hybrid like shape is a million time better than a real DI from the fairway and beyond. I can still pull it like a hybrid, but not near as bad. I was hoping to get a 5 cheap, but you guys are going to keep the prices jacked up.

Can you adjust the lie angle with the GAPR or just the loft?

It leads me to believe there aren't a lot of them out there, period. Ksouth9 eBay store has a bunch, there aren't many bids, and they're going cheap.

Have to agree with the price not dropping bought one last year on the bst here. Used it for most of the year and liked it. Didn't fit right with my gapping so I went back to my Apex hybrid. But I had no problem selling it immediately for what I paid. Definitely curious to see what overpriced replacement TM will use to steal my money this year.
