TaylorMade M3/M4 Fairway?

i only play one fairway wood so I went with the M4 3HL and the thing is a beast. Quickly became the best 3 wood ive ever owned. Its actually longer then would like, but nice high ball flight and super accurate. I have it with the stock atmos shaft, I do wish it had the adapter so I could easily change the shaft but theres really no need to, its that good.

I have used the Nike T40 tour 3 wood at 15° since 2003. Pulled it out of the bag one day about a year ago and released the shaft was bent. It is nearly impossible to find a steel x100 shaft for a 3 wood so I’ve been searching for a new 3 wood but have hated the head design of the new clubs. It’s been big and deep heads instead of the pear shaped. I found a Taylormade m4 tour 15° in the used bin the other day with a Tensei blue x flex, and this club is game changing I went from 266yards with my Nike to 277 on average. The workability is outstanding from the tee and off the deck. I really did not expect it to work so great for me. I did also try the M3 but from a design and trust aspect I am confident with the m4. I’m also able to control my ball flight better with the m4. And off the deck I can hit it around 255 which is a major bonus for the par 5’s. 90% of the club being correct for a player to me is choosing the correct shaft though so I knew it would perform well just surprised by my results and success with the m4. Best fairway wood I’ve ever had and I never thought I’d switch out my old one to be completely honest.

M4 tour 3W with the right shaft is money. Best 3 wood I have ever hit. I am not as consistent with 3w off the deck as I would like, but this one is better than most. Off the tee, this thing is straight and long. A crushed driver for me once every round or two or three is 260 flight. I have carried trouble from the deck that was 226 with some room to spare with the M4 tour. Shaft is important always, but in the 3w I think it is critical. Small head, fast swing speeds,.....everything needs to be right on a 3w off a tight lie. I love mine!

Reviving this thread from the dead as I don't feel the need to start a new one.

Does anyone know if the M3 T3 heads have a face height difference from the standard fairways, or are they just lower lofts with the same face height? Looking for a happy-medium between my Stage 2 3W and the OG 3Deep that I have. 3Deep is a little too long due to the driver-like spin and a bit to hard to hit off the deck for me, and the Stage 2 is a little too short and shallow faced for what I want off the tee. With all that being said, the M4 Tour could be an option too if it fits the bill and a little more suited to what I'm looking for.

I just measured my M3 T13 and M3 15 heads. There's effectively no difference between the two. Just lower loft with the T3.

M4 tour 3W is great, 16.5 HL is great for gapping purposes. The M4 5W, however, is different. Yardage consistency just isn't there for me.

Went 13.5 personally. Ball speed is still up there which allows me to play a 42" 3W and get what I need out of it. Jury is still out on if I can play it from the deck like I want.

The Tour is less forgiving off the deck, I will say that. I mainly use it as a secondary driver on days the big dog doesn't show up. I would say I only hit 1-2 shots from fairway with a 3 wood every few rounds, so I just have to really focus in on the contact. It's a trade off that I'm okay with.
