I need some input on what to get or consider for potentially replacing all of my 2020 bag which is shown below.  Very bored, want new stuff, started playing more, and want to revisit graphite in my irons again.

 

I literally have no idea what is good anymore - so please get me back on track  :)

 

2020 Bag:

 

Epic Flash SZ 7.5* - PX Hulk 65g X (really great when swing is on, sweet spot seems to be shrinking haha)

Epic Flash SZ 13.5* - PX Hulk 85 X (love this club)

PXG Hybrid 19* - GD hybrid shaft (not sure what kind, black/grey) 85X (love this club - will not change it)

4-PW Miura 501 DG X100

50, 54 Miura Wedges - DG X100

60 Vokey V - PX LZ (probably 4 yrs old, no grooves left)

Scotty 009 putter

 

 

 

 

So far I'm looking at:

 

-PXG irons the MB looking ones, but not sure which model to get

-Titleist T100 Black? or ??? Not sure what is good

-Callaway CB? hate the screws.. not a huge Callaway fan, heard they were good

-Honma blade/CB combo?

 

Shafts - either Mitsu MMT or SteelFiber 115?  Must be graphite.. tendonitis is a b*tch.

Titleist might be a great option across the bag. The new woods looks like they will compete with the top dawgs and those T100 irons are beautiful. @J13 has a great write up on the Mitsubishi MMTs.

Early Christmas gift, Pure has returned to the WITB. We all rejoice.

I've toyed with the idea of a Honma combo set with the TR20B and TR20V irons, and possibly a TR21x or two in the long irons. I still might do it, but I still need to figure out where to make the split. I was thinking the 20B to the 7i, then 20V for the 5 and 6 maybe a 21X in the four iron slot, or another 20V. Problem was the gapping. The 20B 6i is 30*, the 20V 28*, so there'd probably be some bending required one way or the other. 

Either way, they're really nice irons. Look great at a address, and feel sublime.

Yeah - might be looking at Titleist.. they are the safe (and boring) bet.. but clubs have always been really great.  I am intrigued with the new SIM 2.0, I haven't hit a TM driver since the M2, I've felt that they have all been almost the same and over marketed for far too long - the 2.0 actually looks kind of cool.

Funny you say that - that is the EXACT set up I was thinking of going with and bending the V's weak and the B's strong 1 degree.  We will see - PXG Gen 3 looks pretty good.  Hard to go from my Miura's back to a big box OEM in irons (TM, Cally, Titleist) - I'm back into wanting something with "cool" factor but also functional, my game is not good enough and I'm not playing serious tournament golf anymore where I wanted results over cool factor.

 

I also don't have the time to tinker and want to just get something really good out of the box that won't have me itching to swap after 6 months.

Ahhh... say what? Saw your activity in one of my streams and thought I would say hi. Long time.

 

I know your tendencies... Let me suggest something for you if you don't mind. I haven't hit it yet but try the new Titleist Tsi3 Driver if you get a chance. Saw some testing and the ball speeds are benchmark able to any driver and the MOI is VERY good. Could be the best driver ever from them. 

 

Also did you get a chance to hit the new Srixon ZX7's? Not your style but solid and 1020 Endo this year. I have a set on order. JMHGO.

You need to look at the Sim 2. I think you'll crush it from what I've seen from others who've hit it that are similar to your playing/swinging ability.

 

As for irons, you know whatever you choose you'll just switch them out 2 months later anyways 😜

The SIM2 is interesting for sure. No sliding weights, which is not a bad thing with how successful the 2016 M2 was. Could be another repeat success with the perfect blend of forgivness, low spin, and distance or it could be a bust like the 17 M series. 

 

Not sure if you have tried the Ventus line, but that also may help with the shrinking sweet spot in driver. There is almost a new topic posted every day about the shaft line and people's success.

 

Also looks like you're looking at a cavity back iron? I really like the Miura TC-201s. A combo of some long irons with the MB-101s or a full set of TC-201s would keep the Miura "cool" factor.

 

Honma is not a bad choice either. My golf club has them as their main line. They seem to love the flashy expensive reputation.

 

This is my opinion of course, but I think PXG is losing it's "cool" factor... When they first came out sure, now they just don't have the same feeling especially when a couple of the big box OEMs have offerings very similar minus all the screws.

Sounds like TSI 3 and SIM 2 are on my radar.  I haven't had the change to hit anything lol, hoping you guys can just tell me what to get 🙂

 

009 is the same Circle W I've been using forever.. I did get a pretty cool one from Scotty with a damascus neck, but it's too nice to game.  Hope you've been well!

TM - went out of business

Ping - No more golf, lacrosse only.

Cally - Only makes juniors clubs

Titleist - Ball only, stopped making clubs

Mizuno - Stopped making irons, drivers only

Wilson Staff - 95% tour play is WS now.  Triton turned out to be a unicorn

Nike - Back to making blue drivers, no irons though.

 

Also a big Nike trip coming up and you are on the list.  It's actually you, Cesar Palanche and Paco.

 

Also Scratchswinger burned down his house today thanks to that new grill he got.

Honma has some good designs, but their QC is rotten.  I liked their TW737P (players distance design), but their specs were all over the place.

 

May want to consider New Level Golf's iron lineup.  I'm supposed to be getting their 902 Forged Line in January, but I've heard nothing but good things about their irons.

I'm looking for more forgiving and easier on the joints 🙂 I will likely keep blades down low and then transition to players CB 5-7 irons and then a driving type of iron for the 4i.  We will see, I'm all over the place right now.

 

PXG Gen 3 0311T look pretty interesting and the price is down to $250 club.  Titleist is still tempting me.. and I think the new Callaway driver coming out in Jan will be something I switch to, I'm 3 models behind at the point.

Tell me more about 0311T 5-PW and 0311P in the 4 iron.  They look amazing - and heard they are insanely forgiving.  The wedges look pretty good too - was thinking of going raw SM8, but feel like I'm checked in right when a bunch of new things are about to hit the market lol
