Think I’m going to be joining team squareback on Friday. Been rolling my Spider well but want to get back into a milled no-insert putter. I’ve always putted better with a little bit of offset and mid toe hang so I was happy to see this hosel finally in a Squareback.

I talked to a guy at the Gallery on Saturday and he explained the differences. It was pretty cool. 2020>CT>009 blade length wise. I dont think I could tell unless they were side by side. Probably hard to even tell when you compare either one of them with the current CT side by side

Not to belabor the point but I don't want to mess anything up... do you simply cover the tip of the toothpick in acetone and scratch away? were the rings more difficult to do than the text? It looks awesome, thanks for the help!

Take the toothpick and scratch/rub the top layer of any paint to me removed. Then I actually poor the acetone on most areas and let it sit. The sole is the hardest because you can’t rely poor and sit. Be most careful on the sight line. Just be gentle as you don’t want to mess with the shape top part of those edges. The Cherry rings can kind of be scratched or chipped away with toothpicks after it’s softens. Be prepared to go through a lot of wooden toothpicks.

Rolled a now Scotty tonight. I have felt for a long time that the Scotty retail stuff is over rated and average at best. The tour stuff is obviously great, but the stuff that comes to retail is more like made for shafts than high quality tour validated stuff.

 

that being said these are nice. A vast improvement over the previous models with inserts. I have never been too big of a fan of Scotty pistol grips. There are very small. Other than that these are nice.

I do love the classic simplicity of the 2020 design. Would you hit up the custom shop for one of the Matador grips? Whenever I see a Scotty on eBay with a SuperStroke grip I cringe.

I would probably not get one. They are nice but nothing special in my mind.

 

I would rather spend the money on something custom.

My bank account tells me that both a Newport and a Newport 2 from this release will grace my collection some day. The only thing preventing me from running out and buying one on release day is the fact that my lovely wife bought me a used/like new 2018 Newport for Christmas. So that must stay in the bag for a little while. And for the record, the feel is not as bad as many have claimed it to be. I actually like it better than the deep mill 2012 NP2 in my collection.

They will be out in shops tomorrow but it’s always nice to custom order is all. Any account that sells Titleist should be able to custom order and drop ship.

by custom order, do you mean the scotty custom shop style with all the initials, color change and all of that? Cause I cant still find the new models on the scotty custom shop site (I pre-ordered the stock NP 2, btw)

Pretty sure he just means loft, lie, length, grip options...not the Custom Shop. You can't buy putters direct from the custom shop, you'd have to get the putter then send it in.

Correct. 34.5, 69 lie, 3.5 loft NP2. That’s about all the custom you can get right out of the gate. But those are my specs and I’m happy to not have to adjust later. And I actually like the shape and feel of the new grip. Wasn’t a fan of the Matador.
