And a few I took today at lunch. The 2.5 is the last select model, Newport 2 v. Newport and the Newport 2 v. Ping Anser 2 vault that they had on the floor. In short after spending some time putting with the new ones I’m impressed. Best retail release for Scotty in a long time. Some observations - the newer Selects have a thinner topline and the Newport 2 does look like the old Ping Anser 2 stainless steels which were real nice but are way too light in my opinion. The feel on the new selects is very nice and I like the new tri sole. The grip is what I prefer so no need to change. I ended up purchasing a Newport 2 today.

They do feel lighter to me than my T22 ordered at 35” standard weight, but I have no firm measurements to back it up. With my 34” extended to 35.5” I thought it would overly heavy but it’s fine.

Went to the store today and rolled it against my 2008 select. Select had a crisper feel and looked more symmetrical to my eye. I preferred the Select's silver color and 4 degrees loft. I loved the Special's lower face and more low slung bumpers. The putter is angularly sexy. I wish the graphics and cherry bombs were more subdued but they are okay. LOVE the milled in USA! Are these milled in Cali? Store manager said old Scotties had China stickers. Both putters are very good. Ended up placing an order for a Special Newport 2. These will be great sellers. Props to Titleist and Donald T. Cameron.

Here is a picture of the new 2020 Select NP2 on the left and a 2018 Select NP2 on the right. As you can see there is a noticeable difference in topline thickness and the shape of the neck. The 2020 is also a tad longer heel to toe to my eye.

Gotta admit 2020 Select Newport 2 looks better its 2018 counterpart. Thin top line, each tier flows better and less chunky.

I like the top line being slimmer on the 2020 but I think I prefer the sharper bumpers on the 2018 NP2... The sharper lines is something I have always liked about the NP2 over the NP, the 2020 almost looks like a blend from that top view. Still rolling my 2016 NP2 until my Lajosi gets here, and I don't even have the urge to upgrade that one... I like it's sharper lines.

What loft on your Newport 2 do you guys prefer? Standard is 3.5*

All depends on your stroke. For me 4 degrees works best. Tiger uses 4. Cameron himself says you need between 3-4 to lift it out of the grass.

I just ordered my left-handed del mar putter last night. Loft was ordered at 2.5* but they are going to bend it to -0.5* for me. Length 33" and lie set at 71*

Best part is I was able to order the Phantom X putter grip, which I like way better.

More curious if you could have a Square Back with the weight from the Newport (30-40gm) and have it play at 31" with proper weighting

Has anyone been able to verify exactly what the head weight is? I see the option for the NP2 heavy head (circle H) but I don't know what that is compared to the stock NP2. I know it's 10g heavier...but heavier than what?

It’s just heavier weights, in the past if you wanted a 35” heavy they would put the 34” weight config in the 35” length. Effectively it raises the swing weight to feel heavier, as typically the putter gets 10g lighter weight config each 1” increase in length. The custom chop used to have a chart that helped in the weight section, which described what was too much weight at a certain length to play in their parameters. I typically have all scotty’s at the heavy setup, and it’s just done by picking two weights that are 5g heavier than what would come at that length.

Does anybody know the weight of the standard pistolini plus grip? Wondering if it would be better to use the matador midsize or large as a replacement but want to keep swing weight as close to standard as possible.
