Iomic Sticky 2.3 Real or Fake Question

This past weekend a buddy brought me his clubs and 13 Iomic Sticky 2.3 grips. He told me that he bought them on eBay for $ 43.99 shipped. I didn't discuss with him the chance that they are probably counterfeits because he's a bit sure of himself on most things and it's not worth the debate. I re-gripped his clubs and he's happy wit them but personally they aren't anything special and I prefer GP Tour Velvet ribbed grips.

My question is is it known that these eBay seller are selling fakes? These grips sell for $ 12.99 at Grips for Less and other retailers.

Your friend probably got fakes. But without pics, nobody will be able to know for sure.

99% of the Iomic grips on eBay are fake. It makes it hard to sell legitimate grips because people think you are asking too much. I am surprised Iomic has not taken any action.

Thanks for the replies... The packaging matched what Iomic shows in a video on YouTube as being authentic but that was a old video and the counterfeiters probably caught up and corrected it. The grips seemed ok but there was a noticeable seam on the left and right from the molding and I wasn't impressed with the quality. My buddy seems to think they are the cats ass so I guess ignorance is bliss.

If they work then they work, but at that price they were likely counterfeits. That price matches the ones on eBay that come from China which i'm almost positive are the fakes.

The fake Iomic I saw was very flimsy and the grooves/indentations were not as pronounced as a real one. Pretty much like a Tour Velvet. Also had a strong chemical smell. The packaging looked real, oddly enough.

That was my impression of the grips my buddy brought me. They seems very "Rubbery" if that's a word and although I never handled Iomic grips they just felt cheap.

Anyone know the good ebay seller for real iomic 2.3. Can you tell by markings on butt end of grip at all if fake. Thanks, JT

Not all ebay Iomics are fake. I bought a set a few years ago I was convinced were fake based on some conventional knowledge on Wrx... Luckily, I work near Iomic's USA offices and took them over. They told me they were authentic.

Smell and the diamond on the inside of the cap at the butt end are the only ways I know to spot a fake. Well and blatantly thin flimsy grips

I bought some on the bay a few months back. They passed all the "tests" I've seen on the videos produced by Iomic. They don't smell, they don't sag, packaging was correct, etc. I had Club Champion look at them and one guy thought they were fake, while the other guy thought they were legit. I've put them on 2 sets of irons and I like them. I don't know that I'll ever be 100% sure of their authenticity or not.

I had posted in a previous thread about these. They passed the smell and droop test and their weights were spot on as well.

The red grips in the pic are 100% fake. The velvet pattern is all wrong and the butt cap is molded too sloppy.
